Brand new Fire HD 8.9. I'm finding Silk to be unstable. Seems to hang/freeze alot. Seems to be site driven. For example, when I look up Silk problems an Kindle Support Forum (Web issues using Silk) and get to:

Silk will lock up the Kindle. I will need to force reset. This happens on other sites as well. Anyone else having similar problems?

Which firmware version is your 8.9 on? My 8.9 auto-updated to 8.1.3 yesterday -- I've read that some folks feel it provides a better experience with Silk. Here's the 8.1.3 update page (with download/update instructions):

Thanks Karen. Mine did the same - and some issues seem to be better, but others still remain (like some apps always show upside down - I have to "lock" the screen to keep them "right-side-up") and Silk still hangs on certain sites. Kindle support is sending a replacement. Thanks for the help.

My silk browser constantly gets "stuck" as well. It has gotten to the point where I have to just close it and walk away in frustration. I do have the 8.1.3 update. Very disappointed. Tried downloading other browsers with no luck. Now regret this purchase.

I've had my kindle 8.9 for a week and it freezes with Silk as well. Downloads books in seconds and that is why I
bought it. Still disappointed with Amazon for the sorry browser. "Silk" REALLY!!! more like ICE. Finally, a bad experience
with Amazon. First for everything.

Is there anything you can do to stop silk from locking up? Can't Amazon update their browser? I have the old update it still locks up

I read on another site to download Dolphin Browser. I was able to download it and now I have it set as my default browser. A bit slower than silk, but it doesn't freeze up. My silk was freezing constantly and I was finding I was only using my Kindle to read books.

I just bought my Kindle Fire HD two weeks ago and every single time I'm on the web it freezes and a box pops up saying Silk Browser Is Not Reaponding. It's extremely aggravating, I think I might have to return mine.

I have the same problem with Silk browser! How do you download a different one that works better?

I am having the same issue. It is so bad I can no longer do searches on my Kindle. I am even having problems with email and Facebook not loading or locking up. When I first received my Kindle two years ago it worked great so I think their updates are only making it worse not better.

If I were to rank the popular browsers from 1 to 10, Silk on Kindle would merit a minus 20...on a good day! Locks up almost every time I use it and unlocking it takes tens of minutes. I'm learning not to even try to use my Kindle for the web, which pushes me to my bigger, heavy, tablet and away from Kindle for almost everything. I use 7 different internet devices and this is by far the worst.

I'm in the software industry and if one of my teams produced this trash I'd fire them. When is Amazon going to dump this dog and support one of the better open source browsers instead?

Silk still freezing. Of course truth to be known all it is is a paperless order form for Amazon. Customer support told me to get rid of all history.
