Purchased a Kindle Fire for my son for Christmas. We don't have Wifi. Can I use a hard wire connection with the Kindle Fire?

You can put content on it via USB cable but you can't connect it to the internet without wi-fi.

Can you add WiFi? Do you have a cable or DSL internet connection? If so you can buy a router for about $50 and have WiFi!

The only way you will be able to access the internet is via wi-fi. If you want to access the internet before you get a router, you can go to McDonalds or Starbucks or any other place that has public access wi-fi available.

Just a thought. You could go to WalMart and get a router tonight and have everything working for him. Just a thought.

I just wanted to put content on it tonight and get the wireless router next week but I guess I need a cable with the Kindle connection on one end and the USB on the other?

It's a standard micro USB cable. You may already have some in the house, if you have another Kindle, or perhaps your cell phone uses that type.

K.I , yes, you will need a USB cable to side load anything onto the Fire.

Yes, you'll need the cable until you get the router or you could just go to a free public hot-spot to connect to wi-fi.
