I am going to bite the bullet and get my first Kindle. I can either get the $69.00 basic model or I found a new Kingle Touch for $75
which would be your choice as far as these two go or should I pre order the paper White basic... Input please

It may be more like eating a piece of cake than biting a bullet. :)

Kay, my first question would be where you would be getting the new Kindle Touch. I wouldn't buy a Kindle from an entity (a person or store) I didn't trust, due to the risk of it being stolen.

Let's put that aside, though, and presume the seller is reliable.

The "Mindle" (that's what I call the least expensive model") has the advantage of being smaller...some people like it for that reason.

However, the Touch has audio, and the Mindle doesn't. I listen to text-to-speech (where software is used to read the book's text out loud to you) for hours a week in the car...that's an important feature. Amazon has also just made more than twenty professional read audiobooks available to you for free when you download the free corresponding public domain e-book from Amazon.

I've also used my Kindles to play music.

The Paperwhite also has the disadvantage to me of no speakers, but the advantage of being self-illuminated.

Kay, Touch has (obviously) touch interface unlike Basic, and, not so obviously, audio, including playing audio books and "robotic" text-to-speech for most of "textual" books. PaperWhite has no audio, but has nifty frontlight and better resolution. Then again, the cheapest PW is $119.

Difficult to say; all are excellent e-book readers.
