Having a little fun...I have 3 Kindles how many do you have? I thought about putting my older ones up for sale but hey they're paid for. I started thinking that I can have one on the night stand, one in the kitchen and one in the living room. Getting some wireless speakers to stream my amazon mp3s too. I'm thinking a miracast tv or dongle is in order. Somewhere I read you could get an app for some tv remote control?

I'm loving my new 8.9 Kindle Fire HDX...everything I expected and more. I just can't seem to give up my other Kindles.
1 Kindle Keboard 3G
1 Kindle Fire 1st Gen
1 Kindle 8.9 Fire HDX

Okay, I'll play. In the house currently there are 4 Kindles. I have a basic, a second gen Fire, and a new KK. The old KK was gifted to the husband as he is now starting to see the value of e-books. I've asked for the 8.9 KF HDX for Christmas so that will make 5. I use all of the Kindles that are 'mine' and I keep an eye on the husband's as he is still new to Kindle and I want it treated right!

I have a PW that goes everywhere with me; it houses my To Be Read Next books. I have a "back-up" KK, with samples, freebies, shorts, not-sure-abouts, etc...

My 2 kids each have a Basic.

I have a 2nd KK in the guest room, with an eclectic mix on it; it would also be a back-up if another Kindle died.

We have six Kindles at the moment (a Touch, a 1st-gen Paperwhite, a 2nd-gen Paperwhite, 1st-gen Fire HD, Fire HD 8.9, and Fire HDX 7"), and a handful of Kindle apps on other devices.

I mostly use the PW1 and Fire HDX, while my daughter uses the PW2 and 1st-gen Fire HD. The Touch and larger Fire aren't getting much use lately, so I may think about selling them.

I've heard some folks use old Kindles as recipe books in the kitch...just a thought.

A "guest room" Kindle - I love that idea, but won't your guest want to take it home with them?

I don't/didn't think that I have a lot of kindles. Then I started to think about it and I do have a few. I keep them all charged and at the ready.

I have my first kindle keyboard 3g and bought a second used kk 3g as a back up when the first started to experience a few glitches. It works just fine now.
I bought a basic (used an amazon local coupon) for my husband to use on business trips. If he lost it I wouldn't be too upset as it was a good bargain. I always said he could upgrade but he isn't an avid reader.

I recently bought a Kindle Fire HD 7" refurb since it had an HDMI out port so I could hook it up to the big screen tv. I use it as a tablet and don't read much on it. I did find out that the text to speech was more fluid than the kk but it only has a female voice. Since I don't use it for reading I don't consider it a kindle.

I've had my new Paperwhite 2nd generation 3g for almost a week. I wasn't too sure about the touch screen since I normally have problems with electronics not recognizing my touch (cursing as stove wouldn't operate) but it is amazing and doesn't get full of fingerprints like the screen on my KFHD. I love reading in bed at night without having to fuss with an add on light.

So, if you are keeping count I have a total of five Kindles. Plus a used Nook that I bought for library books that are only available in the epub format.

No, I don't have a problem and it will only take me about a decade to read all the books in my archives.

Kindle 3G Keyboards are going for around 20-30 bucks on Ebay...I might get one just for recipes.

Correction: LOL...the one I was watching got sniped at the end for 60+. I may just get a one of the new paperwhites and use my old KK 3G for recipes and backup.

I have three of my own-one for Fiction, another for Non-Fiction, and another for Audibles. I will soon be getting a 4th for the Audibles, as the current Audible capable one is an older Keyboard which may go belly up any day. The new Fire HDX will take over as my primary audible Kindle, and I will keep the then less frequently used Keyboard for backup-to listen to when the Fire is recharging, etc-as long as it continues to work. My new bedmate is not so fond of having a lamp on, while I read in bed, so I may end up getting a PaperWhite, too, before long.

I've got the Kindle bug, as well. I have two K1's, a K2, a Kindle Keyboard, a basic Kindle, a Paperwhite, and a Fire HD, for a total of 7 Kindles. I also have apps on two tablets and my phone. I primarily use the Paperwhite and the Keyboard at home and the K2 at work for lunch breaks. I have the Basic as my lending Kindle and the Fire for games and videos. I rarely use the K1's anymore, but they still work great.
People think I'm a little crazy for having so many, but I find that I do use most of them. I will probably wait until next year before I buy another, though, as long as my Paperwhite stays healthy. But maybe I should look into getting a used DX. That 9.7-inch e-ink screen looks pretty inviting.

George says:
I did think about getting the DX but held off. I think the larger screen would be great...the eye doctor put me in bi focals last year.

I won't call this particular person out as it is not my place to do so, but I know another Pro who owns 16 Kindles.

By contrast, there are a measly 7 in my house.

We have three, two of the seven inch Fire HD models, one for husband and one for my son, one 8.9 inch Fire HD that is all mine. We love our tablets and as we upgrade the older Fires will be given to friends or put to work housing recipe collections in the kitchen.

I have a PaperWhite and a new 8.9 inch HDX on my holiday wish list :)

There are 4 actual Kindles in the house; one each of both generations of the PW, a KK and a first gen Fire. I also have a Nook Simple Touch and a iPad and iPhone that have the Kindle apps. I read on all of the devices, except the Fire, at one point or another.

ETA I was strongly considering ordering another KK when they recently went back on sale. I seem to have missed the new ones being offered by Ammy....but there's always eBay ;)

I'm getting spoiled enough by the Paperwhite screen that I'm pretty sure I won't be using my older Kindles anymore. I think I'd rather be a Paperwhite addict than a Kindle addict. :)

I own a paperwhite touch and love it's portability and touch screen ease. Want to purchase a HD Fire 8.9. Is there anything complicated about using both?

Not at all! I have both. I use my Fire for internet, videos, and apps (my son mostly uses game apps on it, but I have AccuWeather, a cardio workoutt app, etc...).

But when I want to curl up & read, it's with my Paperwhite.

ETA: You CAN read on the Fire as well, of course!

In my house? A DXG, Fire HD, Fire HDX, a Basic Kindle, two Paperwhites.

My older K2i lives at my mom's, my first gen Fire lives at my daughter-in-law's. Another Basic was given to a friend.
