I tried to connect the kindle fire to my p.c. with a usb cable, and my computer kept telling me that there was no drive available. It wouldn't even show up on my computer hard drive list. I emailed Amazon support for advice, and all I got was their phone number. I don't understand why they can't handle a simple tech problem via email. If anyone has any info, or has been succesfull hooking up their kindle fire, I would appreciate any helpfull tips. Thanks!

Why are you resistant to a phone call? They are very good about calling back within minutes sometimes immediately. Overall, much easier to talk than email.

There are a lot of variables that could be problematic which is why Amazon suggested you call.

Try a different USB cable and/or a different USB outlet on the computer. Make sure the Fire is turned on.

It will always tell you there is no driver, just dismiss it. Should show up as a drive, though, otherwise it wouldn't try to tell you there's no drivers for it. So it sees SOMETHING. If nothing above works call them.

I appreciate all the input. I finally got it to hook up. I think my problem was that it wasn't turned on when I plugged it in. Thanks again!

I work some tech support- 1st question I always ask- "is every thing turned on?" After getting mad for asking such a stupid question, many times the resulting answer is " oops... ah... no its not...."
