It could be the country that you are located in. It could be an error. I suggest contacting Kindle support and find out what the issue is.

Click on help at the top and bottom of all Amazon pages. Click on the contact us button on the right or the Contact Customer Service link on the left (depending upon which page you get). Answer the questions and the correct contact info is shown. I suggest using the phone for quickest response.

This one?

A Time for Patriots: A Novel (Patrick McLanahan Book 17)

I see it for $1.99. I'm guessing you are not in the US. Prices (and availability) differ greatly depending on your location.

You can go to Manage Your Content and Devices, find the title and use the Actions drop-down menu to return the book for a refund.

Then I'm guessing the OP is in Canada.

You're right... maybe South Africa or Australia, they seem to have the highest prices.

T. Cannon says:
Well while we are speculating about what happened. I did see that the professional narration is $12.99 after you buy the Kindle book. Could she have bought the book for $1.99 and then bought the Audio book for $12.99 and not realized it. It seems like a stretch but it could happen.

Or maybe saw the $12.99 price on that post order screen and mistakenly though that that was the final price for the book?
