I'm new to the Fire. When I try to listen to samples while considering an album for purchase, the clip downloaded; however, I get a playback error and the samples won't progress. I have listened to previously purchased music on the Fire without a problem.

I am having the same issue. I am not sure if it began to occur following
the kindle fire update. Very frustrating. went ahead and purchased an
unsatisfactory album, due to lack of ability to sample the songs through
the kindle fire. To be certain the issue is with kindle fire, I used my
Desktop PC, last evening, to sample songs. Great! So, what gives, my
dear Amazon? Help, please. This is the first mention I have seen of this
problem. I could hardly believe that I was the only one experiencing it.
Thanks, loads.

Re the Jan 30 2012 post by VLH, and my own reply, re attempts to listen to
song samples at Amazon, via the kindle fire, no sample will play, and a little
message appears, saying, "starting download". No music downloads, but an
entry does appear, in the kindle fire downloads page, and in the song list,
leaving me to have to delete the item. I have intended calling Amazon, hoping
that they already have a solution, or are at least aware of the problem.

Try enabling the flash player in the Kindle settings.

Where is the flash player in kindle settings?

Miz KT - For the 1st Gen Fire (which this old thread it about) in the Web tab go to Menu > Settings > scroll all the way down to Flash Enabled and turn it to On or On Demand.

If you have a 2nd Gen Fire or Fire HD you'll need to install it. Adobe stopped supporting Flash on all Android devices (not just the Fire) in August 2012. Amazon can't provide it and you can't download it from Adobe's website. Therefore, you need to manually install it.

To install Flash: (You have to have a Flash compatible browser in order to install Flash. You can't install it under Silk.)

Do the following on the Fire / Fire HD itself:

Swipe down from the top > More > Device > Allow Installation of Applications.

*Install ES File Explorer: ES File Explorer File Manager

Download and install the Dolphin HD and Flash Player apk files from this link:

Once both files are downloaded to your Fire, open ES File Explorer and look in the "Downloads" folder. You should see both files there.

Install Dolphin HD *first* by tapping on the icon. Then Install Flash by tapping on the icon.

*Note that the .apk file for ES File Explorer has been added to the Dropbox link. If you have any trouble with ES File Explorer from the Amazon App Store, use that.

Thanks so much!! I do have a 2nd gen Fire HD. Got it for Christmas and still learning tips/tricks to make it more effective for me (something beyond just reading books and watching movies). Any other suggestions (even where I could go for said tips/tricks) would be much appreciated. I'm pretty tech smart, but just entered the tablet world. :-)

I tried enabling flash but I still get the playback error. Is it normal to have to go to 'downloads' to try to listen to the samples? I have the first gen fire

I am absolutely disappointed with Kindle Fire HD 8.9", Dolby Audio, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, 32 GB - Includes Special Offers. The Fire HD is supposed to be a vehicle for accessing the vast store, but it CAN'T even play music samples from the store. Very frustrating. If anyone has successfully installed and managed to run the Dolphin HD browser, please let us know.

It's June 28, and this issue has still not been resolved? Ugh!. I am having this problem on my laptop, that has flash enabled. This has happened before, not sure what fixed it, and it started happening again tonight.

Does Amazon tech support monitor these forums, if users can't find the answer?

Richard - No, no one monitors this forum. I have no problem listening to MP3 samples on either my Fire HD or my laptop.

To contact MP3 Support:

Go to this link and fill in the information.
You may have to sign in. I would use the PHONE or CHAT options.
Do NOT use e-Mail.
CALL ME under the PHONE tab is great if available.
They will call you within minutes.
