Kindle app disappeared

I updated my Kindle App on 2-14-13, then my app icon disappeared. I have tried search, nothing. Turned my iPad on and off, nothing. Try to reinstall the App, takes me to Open and then, nothing. I'm very disappointed I cannot use my app.

Today is June 18, and I just had the same experience.
I allowed an update on my Kindle App on my iPad and immediately noticed my icons were rearranged. They were rearranged because my Kindle icon is missing.

I am on my third iPad (1, 2 and now mini), my second iPhone (4 now 5) and my wife has the 5 and through all the Kindle app updates I have never "lost" an icon. On some of the updates I did have to re-register the app once or twice, but never had the app icon removed or deleted. Not saying it is not happening, but very strange.

I have been unable to use my Kindle App on my iPad since accepting an update in June (as I reported here).

I have been patiently waiting for another update to come around, and today I accepted the new update.

So far, my Kindle App is working again.

I don't have an ipad. Do you have a manage your apps on apple like on amazon? Maybe you could delete from there. Then on Amazon on manage your devices remove your ipad. Go back to ipad and maybe you can then repurchase the kindle app. Then register your device again.

No news...have gotten the same run around from both Amazon and Apple customer service...neither taking responsibility or having a fix. we may have to wait until the next update to see if the icon comes back. In the meantime, I've downloaded the iBooks app and that seems to be working fine for the moment.

News...opened my iPad this morning to find an alert that a new Kindle update was available to download (3.9.1) - I downloaded it and voila, my Kindle app reappeared along with all my books! Obviously, there's been a lot of static about disappearing Kindle apps that 'someone' decided to correct it...I don't know who to give credit for that but I'm happy and hope it doesn't happen again.

I did the kindle app update last night and noticed this morning the app is gone. Go to App store and it just gives the option to open and doesn't even allow that. I really don't want to have to wait for another update to get my app back. Is that the only option I have?

The update also fixed the search issue some of us had. If we tried to search, the Kindle app froze and crashed. I have to say though disappearing app and books is even worse!

My Kindle app also disappeared after I tried to update it. When I go to app store and search for "kindle," the "open" button appears, but nothing happens when I push it. Very weird.

Happened to me when I got a new iPhone 2 days ago. After reading this discussion, I went to Setting/General/Software update and updated my ioS7 operating system. 5 minutes, later it was done and voila--my Kindle app was back, along with the books. Thanks, everyone.

Having the same iPhone issue with a disappearing Kindle app/being unable to "Open" the Kindle from the App store. Sucks that I have to wait for another update before I can read my books once again.
