Is amazon prime worth the money for streaming music?

Posted on Jun 15, 2014, 5:06:55 PM PDT
T. Cook says:
Amazon Prime is a shipping program with added benefits such as streaming movies and music, so technically those features are free.

Carbonbased says:
Randolph, you ask this question once a month, whether there are new features or not. It's your money...none of us can tell you what it's worth to you.

Artist says:
Geesh, man! You ask this about every single benefit of prime, about once every month.

Why would you want to know if each individual benefit is worth it? It's a package. Figure out what you need and make a decision already!

Edited for incorrect word.

MikeJW says:
Randolph, I was a member of Prime long before there was streaming music, long before streaming videos, long before the KOLL. So, I guess, yes.

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 15, 2014, 5:18:12 PM PDT
not if you want to keep any of that music if/when you cancel your prime membership.
just like the streaming video's, not all music is free.
Prime really is a shipping program, so when you pay for a membership only for the perks of that program, then it's usually not worth it.

If I say yes will you stop asking?

Is this like some bizarre hobby with you?

acraftylady says:
It's not worth it to me. I don't buy enough from amazon to make the shipping worth it. I like the movie selection better on Netflix and hulu and I prefer my satellite radio. To each his own, you have to decide what works for you. Mary

Is a new Lexus worth the money? That's about as useless a question as your repeated inquiries about each Prime feature.

That's up to you. We have no idea what your finances look like or how you would value any given service.

Part of being a grown-up is making these kinds of decisions.

Why not look at the answers on your other thread!

Erich says:
No. It's not just that anymore. It started that way, but it's not just a shipping program with some added benefits. It's grown way beyond that. Just look at the marketing efforts of Amazon for Prime... they see it as much more than just a shipping program.

Now, to the OPs question - dude... no one here can tell you what is worth you spending your money on. Look at the music that's available and make a decision.

musicmomma says:
I can not understand why a person can not make these decisions for themselves. There is tons of information about the services that Amazon offers to make a decision.

I have been wanting to say this for some time. I will probably be down voted but so what.

Google charges almost $10 a month for their music service which works out to almost $120 a year. Prime is cheaper plus you get so much more.

R. D. Clark says:
In retailing, supermarket discount cards, buy-10-get-one-free cards, frequent buyer bonuses and all that are called "customer retention programs." They're designed to make you feel like you get more value buy staying with that retailer.

Amazon Prime is the world's most sophisticated customer retention program. The more benefits they add, the more likely you are to not want to give them up. For Amazon, the prize is your membership renewal every year, because (as someone above mentioned) they know that Prime members spend more money on Amazon.

Prime music is brilliant as a retention program, because the more you fill your iPod or Fire or whatever with Prime music, the less you will want to risk waking up one morning to find your music library empty because you decided not to renew. All the other services are set up like radio, so you never believe the music is yours. Prime, with its ability to put the music in "your" library, can make you feel like Prime is essential. Combined with the videos and the shipping it really is still a great value, truly, but for Amazon it's about keeping us all on the hook, and they're doing a great job of it.

Nope, nope, nope... Not without free streaming of Neil Diamond.

*Gots to have me some free music streaming of Neil*

ETA: Oh never-mind, they have "Got To Get You Into My Life" by Earth, Wind & Fire - I guess that makes up for no Neil.

BTW, just joking in this post.

R. Wilde says:
But do they have Barry Manilow?

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 16, 2014, 12:05:27 PM PDT
Yes, they do. I added a couple of his songs last night. LOL!

I know, I am a total geek when it comes to my music.

R. Wilde says:
Follow-up question...

Is having Manilow music a pro or a con?

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 16, 2014, 12:39:24 PM PDT
For me, it would be a pro, but I have a feeling I am in the minority. LOL!
