Can I buy ebooks for her under my account and send it to her Kindle? Would that require registering the Kindle under two accounts and can that be done?

But no, can't be registered under 2 accounts, and can't send a book to another Kindle.

You can send ebooks as gift. When you are looking at the book product page you will see a button for "give as gift". You will need the person's email address.

Look at the date on those posts. Things have changed since then. To give someone a Kindle book as a gift, go to the book's product description page. Under the button that says Buy with 1-Click, there is another one that says Buy as a gift. Click that and follow directions. Be sure to use the person's regular e-mail address. You can add a message; you can tell Amazon when to send it.

The recipient will get an e-mail from Amazon with your message and instructions on how to accept the gift.
