Hi. I suspect my brother or my roommates has changed the font size in my recently purchased Kindle. I am currently reading "The Lost Symbol". The current font size in my Kindle is the shortest one. Is that the Default for all books in the New Kindle Paperwhite 3G?

CBRetriever says:
there isn't really a default font size as it stays set to whatever you chose as your option. When you set it, you set it for all books, not just for one book

I read using the second from the left one and when light is dim (I have a Kindle Touch), I use the third one from the left

You Know... When Kindle is delivered there must be a default font size... I want to stick to that only. Any Idea? Any guys bought a New Kindle? Your help is appreciated.

You set the font size to that which is easiest for you to read.

CBRetriever says:
again, there is not a default font size - when a book downloads it opens in whatever the font size you chose for reading your last book = your (your, not Amazon, not Kindle, your) default font size

all my books open with the same font - if I chose one that was huge for the book I am currently reading, the next book I opened would also have a huge font

I don't remember what it was set at since I set it to what I need. If it bothers you that much do a factory reset and then check it.

but then he/she would have to re-register the kindle and redownload all the books

See. My question is simple:
default font size for the New Kindle Paperwhite 3G?
Because what I believe is the R&D team has done research on choosing the right size of font as a default as the size of the Kindle. Anyone Know the answer? instead of asking why I want that... Sometimes I feel better when I go with the defaults :)

There is no "default" size. Some books are set up differently than others...

Set it where you like it. With 8 font sizes, 3 line spacing choices, and 3 margin choices, and the different type face choices, the combinations are legion.

I'm not sure how many different ways folks here can give you the same answer.

CBRetriever says:
The only way you can set it back to default is to completelt set your kindle back to default (erases everything on it and you will have to start from scratch)

I do not understand why you do not believe us when we say there is no default size but if you click on the Help at the top of the page and then select Need more help and click on Contact Us, someone from Amazon will answer you

here's Amazon's word on it

The font size options range from approximately 8-point size to 36-point size.

The default size is whatever the publisher sets for each individual title.

You know, Arjun, it really seems like you just aren't ever going to be happy in the Amazon ecosphere.

There is NO default size.

Customization of the font size for individual preferences is why many, perhaps the majority of, customers bought kindlers.

Different editions of books have different page numbers as well.

But if he's so concerned about "default" size, then its probably worth it to him

Guys. When i change the font size, line spacing and margin settings in one book, it reflects in all books. I believe the settings are global. I am even ready to reset my kindle but do i have pay again to redownload my book. Can anyone please make it less complicated by sharing the default settings if you know? I just want to know the default font face, size, line spacing and margin settings.

CBRetriever says:
it is global which is what we've been saying all along

No, you don't have to pay again to download books from your account (there are links to all your books in your cloud tab)

and unless someone has a brand new, out of the box, never changed a thing Paperwhite, no one here knows what the default settings for your Kindle are. almost everyone has changed something to customise their Kindle.

And no, I'm not going to reset my Paperwhite back to factory defaults in order to find out what they are for you but if you go into your menus, you can do it yourself, then reset up your Wi-Fi, reregister your Kindle and download your Books, then if you never change your settings while reading, you will always be at the default settings (unless a book has publisher set fonts)

Dorsie says:
The default font size is fourth from the left. Style is Caecilia. Line spacing is the center one. Margin size is the one on the right (the smallest.)

Edit to add: That was how mine was set when it was new in January. Of course the font sizes changed with the first update in February, and maybe the defaults as well, so it's all quite irrelevant.
