I tried to an email from my Kindle Fire HDX that I just got and I was having problems. Can I print to a Dell printer? Any help would be great! Thanks

You have to pick a wi-fi printer that has an available app for the Fire specifically. Then you go to their website, download their app, and use it.

That blows. I assumed I could use any wifi printer :/ I'm not going to go out and buy a new one just for this. Thanks though.

You can check with the maker of whatever wi-fi printer you CAN access, and see if that company has a Fire app.

Ok. Thanks.

I see Dell has a printing app for android.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dell.mobileprint
Would this work?

I'm starting to regret buying this Kindle :/ It may be going back. Too many things don't work on it.

T. Cook says:
Wifi Printing works, the type of printer you have doesn't negate that fact, so you can't say that's a "thing" on it that doesn't work...
Asking "would this work" implies you already checked that that App supports your Model of printer, right?

I've had the same printer for years. And I just recently wanted a tablet. Read you could print from it. Didn't think only select printers worked. Not going to buy a new printer for this. And there are other things that I am not that crazy about when it comes to the Kindle Fire HDX. I should've stuck with ios, I think.

I can use Google Cloud Printer to print wirelessly to the printer connected to my home desktop computer, as long as my home computer is on and has Chrome installed. I use an app called Printer Share Mobile from my Fire.

Thanks. The only problem is that I don't keep my laptop on.

ok CHICK - first of all, the Android world is not like the PC world of Microsoft. Don't expect the nice & clean interfaces, menus, and feature sets.
So, in the Android world of tablets and smartphones there is NO standard or common interface for printing, and those areas or "hooks" setup for printing within Android may only work for certain apps that have included a fudged printing interface.... email is usually not one of them - because most of the interfaces use the Android "share" menu interface....
Some of this is changing in the more recent versions of Android.
SO - it's not the fault of Amazon - it's the Android OS baseline.

Oh... BTW - if you want to jump ship over to Apple, they are even worse, since the Apple devices only "print" to printers supporting their Apple protocol....

It would be interesting to see which apps you can actually print ???
The browser is an easy area,
but what about from the email client and other apps ??

Unfortunately, when folks say "they can print"...
it usually is just from the browser, and not from all the other apps they may want to print... make a list of your major/used apps, and then see which ones actually allow you access to your "printing" feature.

I seem to be able to print gmail, Google Docs, contacts, calendar, browser pages, documents, and pictures from Printer Share Mobile. I think there are a couple of other options, but they may not function on a Fire. I've only actually printed web pages and documents, however.

I can print fine from all of my text based apps including email. Not sure where you get your information from regarding Android. I use the Brother app for my wireless printer.

really - what version of Android - and exactly what app/feature do you use to print, since at least up to Jelly Bean there was no Android printing interface.

I was able to print from my Toshiba Thrive running Android 3.0 and I am able to print with my new Dell Venue running Android 4.3.

I just installed the Brother app on my Android 2.3 phone and I can print from that as well.

Thanks, Jazzy_Jeff, for the Brother printer app tip! I've been using Printer Share, but the Brother app works well, maybe better, and the pc doesn't have to be on! We only got the wireless printer recently, and this is the first time I've connected directly to the printer wirelessly. Thanks!

You are welcome. I went with Brother because of their support of Linux computers and I read a lot of good reviews on the Android app.
