Frederic from Pirates of Penzance states "Individually I love you all with affection unspeakable. But collectively I look upon you with a disgust that amounts to absolute detestation."
I was reading a great book the other day about introverts and how we are hardwired to have a more sensitive nervous system. This leads to people that are introverts getting 'jangled' by people, noise or to much activity so that they need to recharge by themselves. One of my favorite ways of recharging is reading.
So that made me wonder how many people with Kindles are introverts? What are your favorite ways to recharge besides reading?
I suppose we will also see how many introverts enjoy the Kindle forums too:)

I'm more of an agoraphobic than an introvert.

You may be right about the jangling. Any noise like that reminds me of my arch nemesis the phone. Texting is ok but phone calls are not!

@Old Rocker
Is that hard? If you are an extrovert and agoraphobic don't you get lonely? We introverts are perfectly happy in our parents basements... Lol.

Jay says:
I'm not an introvert, or an extrovert. I am happy to commune with others-when they are around, and they are saying / doing something which is not totally idiotic, or childish-but such is a rare occurrence. Since I am not into the whole: boozing, doping, sports watching, living to party, trying to force my religious / political ways onto others, or hating others who are slightly different because they are slightly different, lifestyle-which so many others follow-most people tend to stay away from me. I read, and think about what I read, and use what I learn from reading, to make my life more interesting, and happy. I thus commune more with the great minds of the past, and present, than with the local drunks, or politicians.

One thing I learned from reading is that if you find noise particularly bothersome, it may be a sign that you are deficient in Vitamins D, and / or B6. Upping my Vitamin intake made me less bothered by noises in my environment. Reading has also been the start of: investigating interesting mysteries, forming friendships with like minded people, developing new interests, qualifying for jobs, initiating world travels, and more. I taught myself Photography largely by reading about it, and then applying what I read about to my picture taking. Reading also helps me to unwind at night, before going to sleep. I don't get 'jangled' by others who are just being themselves. When others try to jangle me, they learn to not repeat the error. I can switch 'sensitive' on, and off, like a light switch. I enjoy: reading, writing, photography, locksmithing, magic, travel, sex, research, cooking, scientific investigations, and much more. Everything I enjoy is enhanced by my reading about it.

Fishing cool! I like fishing as long as I'm not using a fishing pool and their are no fish touching me. So in other words I like sitting in a boat or on the dock by myself or with a few good friends.

Thanks for the post Erin. I like teaching myself from books too. This week it's guitar. Last week psychology. This next week I'm talking a Reiki class (energy medicine) I have also done a lot of reading about it. Your vitamin tips are nice I will have to look into the B6.

Somehow I'm not surprised that you're into "reiki"

- not all the loons are in the North Woods!

Funny you should not be fond of Reiki. Many doctors and nurses take the class for continuing education credit.

Wow that sounds like a lot of fun. Walking in a beautiful river. I'm glad you let the fish grow up too. I always have this funny mental picture of the fish that are thrown back telling the other fish stories about how they were abducted by alien beings and pulled up into a bright light. :)

Just Peachy says:
I'm an introvert. Maybe partly because of growing up in the country.
Too much interaction with others wears me down. I unwind by reading or sewing. Mainly just anything what I can be alone. I don't even have the radio on in the car. Seldom have on the radio or tv at home.

The internet let's me interact with people in a different way. For years I thought I should try to be more of an extrovert but now I embrace my introvert ways.

I understand. In the US extroversion is preferred/encouraged but introverts should not have to change who they are to 'fit in'. We are great just the way we are (at least according to Mr. Rogers).

Just Peachy says:
The internet has let me meet other introverts and feel more comfortable with being one. I *like* living alone. If I ever met someone I'm interested in for a relationship, we may just have to get houses next door to each other. Not sure I want to share a bed with another person on a permanent basis. I want to be able to send him away at times :)

Reading about Reiki is great, but it will not prepare you for what you will experience. =)

I have been a Reiki Master since 2002, nothing could have prepared me. It is way cool!

Just do yourself a favor, don't pay any attention to anyone who says you have to do Reiki "this way" or "that way" - Reiki knows what to do - you are just an instrument for Reiki to go through. Also, do not let your ego get in Reiki's way. Just my 2 cents.

And to stay on topic, I am an extrovert.

I volunteer at a hospital to give Reiki to cancer patients that ask for it. Reiki helps them a lot with the side affects of the treatments.

Was it this one: Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking? I loved it...and I notice that it's only $2.99 right now.

@ Sister Kessa
Thanks for the encouragement! I will be taking Reiki 2 and have already had some cool results using it. My instructor is a very by the book person so I save my theories and experiments for when she is not around. I get what you mean about ego too!

Thank Colin! I have read that book it was great. The book I just finished wasThe Introvert's Way: Living a Quiet Life in a Noisy World. Real life stories by a introvert for introverts;)

Oh cool! I thought from your earlier post, you were going for your Reiki 1 Attunement. Reiki 2 is really cool - wait until you get your Reiki 3 - way cool! LOL! =)

Experiment away! Have lots of fun playing with it. You will learn so much more than having someone who has their own idea's on what to do & not do.

When I give someone an Attunement, I like to teach them how to make an energy ball & then have them throw it at me. And I throw some at them so they know what it feels like - everyone loves it.

Have you put your hands (palms facing each other) really close, but not touching & feel the "reverse magnetism" feeling. That is really cool if someone has never felt that before.

And practice, practice, practice - the more you use it, the stronger it gets. =)

I am very happy for you - it is so cool!
