My Kindle is an older one, and the battery isn't staying charged like it used to. How do I replace the battery? I don't see an obvious way to open it and don't want to break it trying to open it.

First of all you need to know which Kindle it is. Then go to YouTube and do a search for replacing the battery for that model. If you want to attempt it then do a Google search for places that sell that battery and tool if needed.

I bought a battery from Amazon for my K3. It came with a video and all of the tools needed.

How long should a battery last? My Kindle Fire is just 14 months old and have been having to charge it every day and now it is dead???? What to do????

The battery in your Fire should last a few years. It's normal to charge them every day as they only have a few hours battery life.

Plug it in an leave it for a few hours. Then try rebooting it following these instructions. If that doesn't resolve your issue, contact customer support.

TO REBOOT YOUR KINDLE FIRE:
Make sure it has at least a 50% charge. Unplug the Fire.
Hold the power button in for a full 30 seconds (count them). Disregard any messages to shut it down.
If it doesn't turn back on at the end of holding the button, press it once to turn it on.
The flickering "kindle fire" screen will appear for a couple of minutes while it's coming back on.

TO CONTACT KINDLE CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Click on this link and fill in the information:

You may have to sign in. I would use the PHONE or CHAT options.
Do *NOT* use e-Mail.
CALL ME under the PHONE tab is great if available.
They will call you within minutes.
