Would you dare buy a Nook cover for a Kindle Fire

or would that just be sacrilegious? I found a really cute one at BN for $12, originally $60. From the specs it looks like the Kindle Fire is just a tiny bit smaller, like .5 inch in height, and .3 in width. Or is that playing with fire?!?!?!

Half an inch is not a tiny bit to a device that's less than 8 inches tall. Go ahead, but be prepared to use the cute cover for something else, worry endlessly about the security of the Fire wobbling around in the case, or cover the back with velcro.

If you are sure it will fit, go for it....

It is a slip in cover where I would need to take the Fire out of the cover to use it. So it really is more of a protective cover when not in use and when traveling. It looks like this but in pink:

I've been looking at covers too. There are so many models of ereaders and tablets now that a lot of cases should be able to "cross over", especially if they're envelope or sleeve types. The new Kindle Touch I've ordered is really close in size to my Sony Touch PRS650. In fact, those two are closer to each other in size than the Kindle Touch is to the baby Kindle, and a lot of cases are being sold as being suitable for both of those.

I ordered this one in the flower pattern, to be ready for the Kindle Touch, but my Sony using it right now -- BUILT Neoprene Kindle Slim Sleeve Case, Scatter Dot, fits Kindle Paperwhite, Touch, and Kindle

I love the Nook covers -- I often walk through the display with envy.

I doubt they will fit, unless you are looking at a sleeve, so I don't think it would be a smart choice -- but certainly not sacrilige.

I can tell you more about this subject when the Fire actually ships. I have a gorgeous Oberon case for my Nook Color and before getting a case for the Fire, am going to see if this will work for the Fire. The first thing I did when I read the specs for the Fire was to measure the Nook Color, which appears to be a little less than a half inch taller, and about the same width. So hard to tell till I have the Fire in my hands. I have a padded slipcase I made which will work for either the Nook or the Fire, and the Nook will end up with that if the Oberon case works.

Our Kindle Fire fits handsomely in a Nook Cover. The Nook Cover we purchased at Barnes & Noble was the leather "Sinclair Cover in Earth." The elastic bands at the top corners provide for a custom fit. The gadgets that plug into the Kindle Fire all plug in nicely while the Kindle Fire is in this Nook Cover. Simple, durable, and affordable at $15. There being several different styles/sizes of Nook readers, be forewarned that most Nook Covers will not fit the Kindle Fire. We just happened to discover one that did and it is working out for us just fine.
