Kindle Paperwhite, 6" High Resolution Display with Built-in Light, Wi-Fi - Includes Special Offers

I recently received a Kindle Paperwhite, but in the last few days it turns itself off right after I turn it on.

It is not the battery, the battery is at 90% full.

Any ideas???

Do you have it in a cover with a magnet that's supposed to wake it up on opening? Mine made my PW turn OFF, instead, even if I turned it on manually.

Try rebooting your Kindle. Hold the power button on for 30 seconds and give it time to reset. See if this fixes it.

Mine seems to randomly turn off & then I can't turn it back on for a minute or so. Happens very randomly sometimes once is a couple of hours other times twice in 30 minutes. I thought it was something to do with ads but the timing isn't consistent. My K3 never did this nor my kids regular Kindles (with ads).

This was happening to me, and I realized it was sitting on top of my iPad mini, which has a magnetic cover. Sure enough, the magnet was tripping the Kindle's auto-on feature ;-)

This has been annoying for me too. After reading your post I realized this only happened on the train ride to/from work. I usually prop my Kindle on top of my messenger bag which is on my lap. My messenger bag has two magnet clasps. I'll try a different arrangement on Monday! Cheers!

Ah yes it's my messenger bag that's to blame for this problem! Also on the train... ;) Thanks for solving the mystery. I was ready to send it back to Amazon.

Thanks so much for this. I had a similar problem. When I turned on my paperwhite it flicked between the page I was reading last and the screensaver several times and then switched off. Rebooting seems to have solved the problem. Fingers crossed.
