Does anyone know how to disable the settings on the Kindle HDX from automatically proceeding to mobile web sites rather than displaying the "desktop" view?

I personally do not like most mobile sites as they usually do not allow for pinching and expanding the screen. I know a while back when I had my old Kindle HD, someone explained a simple solution for one time viewing in desktop mode (it was ESPN) but it had to be completed every time I went to the ESPN website. That's cumbersome.

Thanks

I have the same question? Anybody? The previous answer of going down the left side menu bar doesnt work on my new hdx. Please help--its driving me crazy!

Go to settings. Go to apps. Scroll way down the pager and turn off Launcher. The launcher is what is taking you to the mobile sites as opposed to the full sites.

Actually, on the Kindle HDX the "Launcher" is under "settings," - "Manage all Applications" - and then you scroll down to the "Launcher." However, there is no "turn off" launcher feature. There is a feature called "Force Stop." There is a "Disable" feature but at least on my Kindle HDX it is grayed out and not accessible. When "Forced Stop" is swiped, a message is displayed that "Force stop will close this application and stop any of its background processes. It is usually unnecessary to force stop an application unless it is misbehaving or unresponsive."

In any event, when "Force Stop is closed, it does not disable the mobile site view and replace it with the desktop view.

Actually, this can be solved on the HDX as well. Once you open your Silk Browser to a site you wish to visit, and it is directed to the mobile version, click on the three (3) vertical dots in the upper right hand corner of the screen to open the drop down menu (not the three horizontal bars on the upper left hand side of the screen). From the drop down menu, select "Request Another View" and from the pop-up window, select "Desktop".

Thanks for the answer but it is not a permanent solution. Sometimes at the first view, your solution will work; but after the first view, the screen will return to the mobile view.
