How do you get the payment plan to work?

I've ready in several places about Amazon's new payment plan for buying one of their devices....but any time I try adding a device to my shopping cart, it just charges the regular amount. How do you get the payment plan that has been in the news today?

I just looked on Google. for Amazon Kindle Fire payment plan. And used the link on one of the articles to take you to a page where you have to accept an offer. Once accepted you then add the Kindle Fire HDX to the cart and it takes out the first installment.

Are we able to register a Kindle HDX purchased through the payment plan to another account? I received the offer to my Amazon account, but all our Kindles are registered to my husband's account. (He purchased the first Kindle in our family years ago, and we've kept all the devices & ebooks on that account since then so we can all share.)

I'm sure I received the offer because I have no Kindles/ebooks registered to my account, and Amazon, thinking I'm Kindle-less, wants to lure me in. However, while I'd consider upgrading my K3SO (which I think is now called a Kindle Keyboard), I'd only do it if I could buy it as a gift (unregistered) and then register it to my husband's account.

Thanks in advance for any info.

You can buy it as a gift and register it to whatever account you want.

Thank you very much! Are all versions of the HDX eligible for this deal? I'm interested in the HDX 7" 64G, with special offers, wifi only ($309). I assume the payment amounts will automatically correct for the more expensive versions (if they're part of this offer).

I'm afraid to click on the "accept offer" link to find more details!

Hi, I did the offer yesterday. When you click accept offer, it gives you the option to choose the 7" HDX (and storage size as well as accessories). As TSD says, you can always cancel out and not order.

To see if you are eligible to purchase a Kindle HDX device on an installment plan, visit AM
Mickey:If you are not eligible, a message will appear saying that you are not eligible for the promotion. 10:54:28 AM
Mickey:If you are eligible, click the "Accept Offer" button, add a Kindle Fire HDX device to your cart and complete the check-out process. You'll be charged 25% plus full taxes (where applicable) at checkout and 25% of the total price every 90 days after that until the device is paid for in full.

Here is your answer I did it Friday works great ! Good luck.

You can't use this offer if you live in Florida or the district of columbia.

Why are folks living in those areas ineligible?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 16, 2013, 5:51:54 AM PST
There is probably some feature of the offer that conflicts with local laws.

There is a footnote to using this as a Buyer beware,,,,,, YOU CAN ONLY USE THE INSTALLMENT PLAN ONCE AND ONCE ONLY. If you order a Kindle 7 in HDX and find out it's too small or you have to return it or exchange it AMAZON will not let you use the installment plan on the replacement EXCHANGED kindle. The way it was explained to me after 4 days of emails & no call backs from Amazon they said well you used it once and even tho you just wanted to exchange for the bigger HDX we can't just adjust your payment and exchange it period. So in short if you use this plan MAKE sure you order what you want because you won't be able to exchange it and use the installment plan on the exchange.

On a side note what the heck happened to Amazons customer service ? I was hung up on twice and promised 2 call backs and 2 days later no call back. This whole thing left a really bad taste in my mouth.

If I were you, I'd call back and ask to speak to a supervisor. You may get a different answer.

Plus, it's the holiday season--the CS reps are probably very busy.

michael: We are not Amazon here, just other customers. We can't help get anyone to call you back.

If you are unhappy with Amazon, you'll have to talk with them, not us.

Geez, Michael -- take it easy. He's just telling you the way it is. There is no policing involved. You don't sound very merry.

Has anyone else noticed that it's mostly people with stinky attitudes, that probably existed before their problem with Amazon, who have problems with customer service?

You think we care that you're typing it on an iPad? Just because you think that affords you some kind of special status doesn't mean anyone else does.

Not the iPad card!
