I hope this isn't a duplicate topic. I did a quick search and didn't find an answer. I wanted to know if Amazon has a list of the samples you've sent to your Kindle, other than the one on my Kindle. I've sent samples of several similar reference books to my Kindle and want an easy way to compare them.

Miss Carol says:
I don't believe so. They're not listed on your Manage Your Kindle page anyway.

No...I rather wish there was. There have been a few times when I've dl the same sample more than once...but since it doesn't cost anything, it's not really a big deal.

You could make a collection called Samples and then just leave them there. They don't take up much room.

That's what I did with my 200+ samples - I only delete the ones I know for sure that I am not interested in reading.

200+ samples! Wow. you could just put them in your wish list

I made a list of my Kindle samples. Connect Kindle to your computer by USB. Click on the folder that has all your Kindle content(document). Got to search box in upper right corner of Windows Explorer and type "sample". This will list all your samples! I then took a screen shot.

I use to have a 'Sample' collection with 200+ samples on my KK (lost it when I had to do a factory reset). Main reason for keeping that many, I was using that as my wishlist for books I was considering buying. When I had some spare time to fill, I would go through an read a few and decide to either buy the book or delete the sample..

in case a kindle dies, it's a good idea to both download a sample and add it to a samples wishlist

Right now, I just put the books on my wishlist - main reason for that is so I can watch for price drops.

CBRetriever says:
you're lucky - those of us outside the US don't see prices on our wishlists and have to individually check every item on it

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 11, 2013, 6:14:40 AM PDT
I've never quite worked out why that is, CBR. It's not like we don't see prices on the product page. All I can think is that somehow the wishlist feature must be tied to the US price database.

I usually put the current price in the notes when I add an item, but it still means jumping to the product page to do a comparison next time I look.

Ivan, you can think of the samples like the samples you get at Costco. :) There isn't really a transaction that happens with them, so they aren't tracked the same way...you didn't go through the line and get rung up. You can't return them for a refund (as you can with Kindle books for which you've paid, within seven days of purchase).

There is some cost to all of that with purchases for Amazon, although it is presumably pretty low.

Amazon may know, but I don't think there is anything that shows to us which samples we've had sent.

K. Rowley and others, if you want to be notified when a book drops in price, you can list it for free at eReaderIQ. I am not connected to that site except as a user (and we've had some correspondence), but I do think it is a very valuable resource. You can list books there, specify the amount of the drop about which you want to be notified, and you'll get a free e-mail when it happens.

CBRetriever says:
unfortunately ereaderiq has stopped supporting any country except for the US, the Uk and Canada as far as showing prices

:-(

most of the price drops don't transfer internationally

I'd like to know whether there is any way to recover a title from a pervious kindle sample. I sampled a book, it disappeared or didn't appear and now I can't remember the title. If there was a history, I'd go and buy it. It seems odd that the burden would be on the consumer to put it into a collection or wish list with all the automated recommendations...

I downloaded a bunch of samples as books came recommended to me then the Kindle they were on died.
I'd love a way to find out what samples I had previously downloaded so I could re-download them to the replacement Kindle.

My problem exactly. Updated my Kindle for Android on the smartphone; all the samples disappeared. I'd love to upload them again, plus add them also to my brand new Paperwhite, but can't seem to find any automatically created list of my previously downloaded samples. Which is weird given that I was practically on the verge of buying those books. Amazon, there's a customer wanting to spend some more money, how about making it easier for her? :-)

Agreed. I actually switched to Nook after my kindle died and lost years worth of samples built up to record the recommendations of friends (the Nook stores samples in the cloud). I contacted Amazon and they don't seem to even know it's a problem. I'll try again pointing to this post.

What difference does it make to you if you're using a Nook now?

I know I'm replying to an old post, but now my wish list shows prices, but the prices are those for US customers and if there's not a US version of the book available, I see this:

Destroyer Angel
by Nevada Barr (Kindle Edition)

1 Used & New from $12.66

New and used Kindle edition?

and when I click on it, I see this:

Kindle Edition $12.35
Kindle Edition $20.28
This title will be released on April 1, 2014. Pre-order now.

Guess which one I'd prefer to pre-order?

Finally, you can see the list of samples you've downloaded in the cloud. However, it seems to begin saving the list since late last year, as my earliest sample only dates back to November 2014.

You can send samples to a registered device or reading app on your account, delete them from your content library, and more from Manage Your Content and Devices."
