Hi, I was hoping to maybe get some help from the board. My mom is nearly a shut in. She is an avid reader, but going to the library is almost not a possibility anymore. She has read so many books that I can't go to the library for her unless she gives me a list. Unfortunately, she is the type of person who just picks her books off of the shelf.
She is not tech saavy in the least! She doesn't have a computer and doesn't know how to use one. Teaching her to use a kindle should be a feat in itself, but I know she will be able to learn it. She is a fairly smart lady!
She has no internet service and funds are very limited. So, I thought about buying a kindle with 3G. I know that the newer kindles will only support 3G if you are buying from Amazon. I am pretty sure that someone said that the older 3G models are able to browse the internet??
Basically, I am wondering if there is a 3G model out there that she could use the 3G to access the library website to check out books? That way, she could come to visit, I could load her up with a bunch of free books, or other books I have purchased from Amazon, then put some books on reserve for her at the library.
The only hitch in that plan is if she can't access the library website using the 3G.
So, I know this is a lot of background, but I was hoping someone could help me out here. Thanks!
