Hey again guys.

I want to download a movie onto my Kindle Fire (the original version) which I have done before, and now it says that I don't have room.

Before you say to delete stuff, I have. I only have like 4 or 5 books, a 1mb video downloaded from youtube, and an entertainment weekly app...idk what else to delete and I'm still only at 419.22 Mb.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? It says that apps are different (have tons of those downloaded) so idk what to do now.

Thanks,

Z

did you delete the items from your kindle or via usb?

and some apps are big, especially those with lots of graphics

If you deleted using usb, you didn't actually delete anything. It just gets renamed and hidden.

I deleted straight from my kindle. Pushed, held, "remove from device"

Also, kinda want to vent and bitch and moan. I bought the Fire 1st gen for a birthday gift to myself and its barely been 6 months and already there's a new version and seems Amazon isn't giving updates to the first gen. Guess I have to wait to get another $30 coupon for the hd (bought the first gen for $169) which I thought was a good deal. Gah lol end vent/rant lol

You might try deleting some apps you don't use regularly. If you got them from Amazon they will still be in your Cloud.

I'm in the same boat with the Touch

ok, so you deleted properly, that's good - if your other apps are from amazon you could try removing the ones you don't use that often (they'll be available in your cloud to download again)

I was just trying that, but I'm one of those types who are all "ill delete it then ill be at a wifiless place and want to play it" lol but I just deleted those I rarely used but didn't make a dent in the space I want.

Also check to see which apps are running. You might have a Gremlin or two in your system.

try a reboot?

fully charged, unplugged, hold power on for 30 seconds (ignore the message that appears), then turn it back on and wait

Just did the reboot thing and its up to 481.43 Mb, which is better but still low. Wish I lived with a computer nerd who I can give a wedgie to to figure this out lol

ok

unfortunately mine is at home (kindle, not gremlin) so I'm kinda winging it here - I believe there's some kind of way to clear cached data from your browser - that may free up a bit

ah, I found this on the Kindle Fire for Dummies (no slur meant) site:

Storage: You can clear Kindle Fire's memory of data stored by the app by tapping the Clear Data button.

Cache: Computing devices store data based on your usage to more quickly provide the data you need. This so-called cache of data fills up a bit of memory, so if you want to free up some memory, tap the Clear Cache button.
