You can change what is shown but cannot turn it off.

Select "Reading Progress" in the Menu to see your options.

That space can be rotated with a touch between mins. left in chapter, time left in book and location number. I like to leave it at location most of the time.

You were helped above so you can display your current location instead, and never see the "time remaining" message. Were the instructions unclear?

Just Peachy says:
Then switch it to location or go read a DTB.

Ironic, Mike Rodent, that you would consider something amateurish.

amazing. Why should I **not** have the option to turn-da-ting off!??

Just Peachy says:
"Perhaps some people don't want to have their mental and emotional reading space contaminated with percentages and other numbers".

How do you deal with page numbers on DTBs?

I can't see that calling me "amateurish" is either witty or wounding, or that it in some way adds to the discussion. Say something, rather, about the substance of my complaint about the device, perhaps?

but tell me this: why should people **not** have the option to turn off screen clutter? And why exactly is my wish for improvement meeting with such preposterous opprobrium? Is this loyalty to the device?

interesting point... but I think they are less intrusive. And the nature of the ereader is that the manufacturer can, without any difficulty whatsoever, give us the chance to have these things hidden. If that's what we want.

Um, go back and read your previous posts. It's your attitude, not your wishes, that are causing you to receive all this flack.
