Deleting books from way back when . . .

Sindi says:
I have many books on my Kindle that I want to delete. Is there an easier way to delete books from over a year ago rather than having to tap all the way to page 30, or whatever, deleting one at a time??? If I have to do it the way I have been, it's going to take me 'til next Easter to get rid of them all. I share two Kindles with my mother and I want them GONE so we can keep adding books. We will never read those again. Thank you!

One at a time is the only way. One hint is to open multiple windows so that after deleting one, you can go to another window while the first is reloading. Careful on what you click on... The pages do jump around.

That multiple windows is for when you are on the PC, not on the Kindle.

You could do a factory default reset, wiping the device clean, and re-load only those books you intend to read next.

Oh. I was thinking that Sindi wanted to delete permanently from the account.

If you're talking about deleting them from your account altogether, one option is to keep altering the sort-by selection, so that the listed order changes. That will bring up some of those that are further down the list. If you're just deleting off your kindle, I'd do it this way (these instructions assume you have a kindle with a 5-way controller; if not, adapt the instructions as necessary):
1. Create a collection called "to delete".
2. From the home page, right-click on the collection and then select "add/remove items". That will bring up a list of all your books.
3. As you page through the list, click on each book you want to delete. One click adds it to the to-delete collection; a second click removes it from the collection again.
4. When all the books you want to remove have been placed in the collection, return to the home screen and go into that collection.
5. You can now move quickly through the list deleting everything there. Make sure you're choosing the "delete from device" option, though, rather than just "remove from collection".
