When I first got this product it worked perfectly fine. Recently however, well for a couple of months, silk browser has been really leggy. I cleared all of its data today and that really sped it up.

My problem is this: whenever I try to play a YouTube video, it goes to the loading screen, but takes a very long time. It just never loads. Then if I try to go out of the loading screen, the app completely stops responding. It gets stuck on the loading video screen and I have to force stop the app.

I've tried dolphin and essentially the same thing happens. Trying to play a youtube video stops the app.

Any help is appreciated

Have you tried a hard reset? Ensure the Fire is fully charged and remove charging cable. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds (time it). If necessary, press the power button one more time to start the Fire. Wait until the home screen is fully loaded.

If this doesn't fix the issue, it sounds like a reset to factory. This will remove all apps, books, etc. so maybe before doing anything this drastic, a call to Kindle support??

The hard reset didn't work. It shuts down after 10 seconds. It's gone back to normal today. I guess sometimes it just needs time.

I had the same issue, and realised that it was down to an app that I had downloaded (a game called 94degrees) at a similar time to the YouTube issue. I removed the game from the device and YouTube plays again. Yey!

Two thumbs up to you for not just blaming the Kindle like most folks do, and realizing that all the other things we install can often be the issue. ;-)

My video tube app for YouTube wont work any more. I have deleted it twice and re installed it. The first time I re installed it it went back to work for a day. That's it. When ever I try to play a video the app shuts down all I get is your application has stopped unexpectedly. Please help!

My guess is either 1) the Fire got an update that doesn't recognize that version of the app any more, or 2) that app got an update that doesn't recognize the Fire anymore.

Youtube doesn't work with my kindle either. I cannot log in and Occasionally I cannot search for videos.

And apparently, youtube recently updated and added the music tab to the website. So that may be why. :(

- I have the original Kindle Fire

I found an old .apk for YouTube on Android Police. I think the one I found was from September 2013, but you may find a newer one.

I have an issue with my kindle fire hd 8.9. When I am using the silk browser and am on, if I let the device go into sleep mode then wake it back up, the video never starts and then all of a sudden the silk browser can't find and I have to hard reset my device to get silk and youtube to start working again.

Try restarting your Fire TV. Either unplug it and plug it back in or hold the select button and play button at the same time for about 5 seconds on the remote.

I did that. Got into online chat with Amazon, they had me forces top the app, clear data on the app, and reboot the fire tv. That didn't work. Next they wat me to uninstall and reinstall the app. I didn't do that yet but they said they'll replace the fire tv if it won't play after that.
I'm not sure it's hardware related myself. It does everything thing else fine.

edit: uninstalled and reinstalled the youtube app. still doesn't play "the interview" but plays other stuff fine. Amazon is going to switch the fire tv out but I'm not thinking that'll work either.

So I wrote a book on Fire TV Stick, and someone emailed me about installing YouTube on a Fire TV Stick.

I went through the installation steps and I encountered this exact problem. I have a pretty clean stick, no apps installed.

The way I fixed this was to install YouTube AGAIN after the first installation. Something like:

o Go back to Apps. Click the right button until "" is selected
o When is selected, press down and right. When "uninstall" is selected, press the center button
o reinstall YouTube and try to start it again

This is probably way too late to help OP, but hopefully this helps someone!

It is the YouTube apps fault along with the movie studios. Here is my review of the YouTube app after I found what was wrong:
Wish I could give zero stars. The app will let you buy/rent movies from YouTube such as "the interview". I paid $15 for the HD version of the movie. then due to youtubes DRM it would not let me watch the movie on my firerg - which is exactly where I bought it. I had to watch it on my computer. However once again DRM bit me. Instead of being able to watch the movie in 1080p HD like I paid for, it would only let me watch it in standard 480 definition.

I was having issues with YouTube and the various YouTube apps on my Amazon Fire TV. They were not connecting and it would be an endless load screen. I tried all the solutions which were posted but none worked.

I finally got it to work after I went into settings and erased my wireless network from Fire TV. I then went through the set up again for wireless and all the YouTube apps worked fine.
