Linda says:
I happened to feel the adaptor for charging my Kindle Fire while it is plugged in and charging the Kindle and it feels hot. Is this normal? Not so hot that I can't touch it, but hot, nonetheless. Thanks!

Yes, it is normal for the charger to get warm. It is also normal for the Kindle to get a little warm when charging. The Fire (if that's the kind of Kindle you have) will also get warm when being charged or heavily used.

Noku Dzu says:
perfectly normal. If it weren't warm to hot, you could probably assume it was defective. The charger is converting 120 VAC to 5 VDC.

Really? So hot that it burns to the touch? Truly scary and a safety issue.

Ive only seen them get that hot when you charge and use at the same time with the brightness up. My kids are constantly doing this because they dont want to wait for the charge. I realized how hot it got under those conditions and banned that practice!

All electrical chargers get warm when charging. Electricity by it's nature is warm! :) However if it is way to hot to touch or starts to smoke, you may have a problem.

No It should not get HOT to the touch. You need a different charger. Don't use apple little cube for charging.

My Kindle (the one with the alphabet) is completely dead, even with charger plugged on. Do I need a new battery or anew Kindle (mine is three years old.)

"Don't use apple little cube for charging." Wrong. No charger can provide too much power. If the charger or battery is getting painfully hot that is a problem in the Kindle and it should be unplugged and not used until Customer Service is contacted.

You mean the one with the keyboard? Try restarting it. Unplug the charger then hold the power slide switch over for 30 seconds. Then let go and plug it in, and see if it will restart.

You are probably using an Apple cube or a charger that is only 500ma. Dollar General has a $10 charger that is made for the Kindle. It says it right on the package. I bought one. It runs a little warm, which is normal but does not get hot. It is rated for about 750ma. Come with the cord.

I just found out what was wrong with my Kindle that I thought was dead. The problem must be the outlet I was using. Different outlet, turns on :-) and is is charging... from 0 power.
