Kindle - the short cut.

I'm on my second Kindle - I sat on the first one and it was never happy after that. Now i have a paper white and I don't need a flashlight to read it when the sun goes down and I'm too absorbed to get up and switch on a light. one comment I'd like to make though - I am seeing more and more grammatical, spelling and story line errors as if the author cut corners to get the book out to the public as quick as possible. Even one character changes name from one page to the next (" who is THIS guy?" thought I, when 'Buckler' suddenly became 'Cobbler') I suppose that there will be many errors in the creative process of writing a book but traditionally said book would go through a number of proof reads and edits before the final version. Lately it seems to me that this process has been cut. A short cut? But why? show me a word processor that doesn't have a spell or grammar checker! Surely authors want to make sure their product is sound before it is seen by the public?

Those errors have nothing to do with the kindle as a device...

Since Amazon does not edit books - they merely sell them - the place to be taking these issues is to the publishers' websites or (if the books are self-published) to the authors'. There is also a place on the book product page to report errors - you have to scroll down to find it. And, of course, leaving a review on those titles that are especially bad is very helpful to other people looking to buy the book.

as the others have said the editing is up to the publisher - one thing I check for is the publisher's name and if the book is available in a paper version (9 times out of 10) as that often indicates that at some point in time an editor has been involved.

and some of the self-published authors are the worst in that they have no idea that their grammar (mine is terrible and I know it) isn't up to par.
