I don't know much about computers, so I need help finding a laptop. My budget is $750. I would like something that is not too heavy, as I will be taking it to and from school with me. Some of my preferences are; Windows, Video streaming, DVD, good sound. I'd like something with good resolution and I upload lots of photos. I really like the Asus brand, but I'm open to other brands as well. Thanks for your help!

I am also looking and my comp guy said if you want something with a lot of space get like a 4G w Over 500g on hard drive. But for just playing around a 2G is fine. I hope it helps. (; Debi

Find an i5 cpu with 6 or 8 Gigs of ram, a dedicated Nvidia 630m GPU, 500 or bigger HD, and you will be satisfied. Unless you are a hard-core gamer. And, you can find them for $700 or less. The dedicated GPU or graphics unit is nice for everything, gaming, video, streaming, scrolling and zooming large photo files or pictures, etc.

If you go to Tiger Direct and choose 'guided search' you can limit your search by over a dozen categories, including brand, weight, screen size, RAM and price. I was looking for a different price point, but put in $500-$749 price, weight less than 5 lbs and found 3 Asus choices. They also sell a lot of refurbished machines, not sure about that, I'm leery of problems with a refurb but no first hand experience. Also, I've always owned Dells and been happy but have also heard good things about ASUS and Lenovo.

If you did not put a password during set up process, then you will not need a password to log in to your new laptop. You got a lock notice probably because you added a password during set up process but forgot it. Well, you can reset your laptop to factory condition, and then everything will be cleaned up. After that, you can set up a new password for log-in. Is this helpful?
