Hopefully you enjoy these guys. The songs on youtube just scratch the surface of how great these guys are. I have all their songs on cd if anyone is interested for FREE. Email me at axlgnrfan2005@yahoo.com

On September 13th, 2003 lead singer Jerry "Pork" Armstrong passed away at age 55. Just wanted to put some videos on here in honor of Pork and help keep his music alive since today it has been 8 years since he passed away. These guys are one of my all time favorite bands and played country, rock, and blues and were very popular in central Illinois. They put out their first album in 1979 and made music and played live all the way up to his death. He was truly a great frontman and one of the best live entertainers. Just an all around great band. Here are some videos of a 1980 show in Decatur, Illinois

Here is Pork and the Havana Ducks doing "Redneck Mothers" live in concert. A lot of people have done this song, but if I ever want to hear this song this is always the version I go with. By far my favorite.

Here is their version of "Quaaludes Again". Again this is always the version I go with if I want to hear this song.

This was off their 2nd album called "Two" released in 1980 I believe and is one of Pork's classic songs. The name of the song is called "Operator" and written by Pork.

Here is another one on youtube called "The Drummer Calls Her Darlin'" from a show in 1985. This song was written by Pork and off the first album in 1979.

This is one of my favorites called "#2 On You". I believe this one was recorded in 1997 or around there. Written by Pork.

O"Brien - I spent my college years in Champaign Urbana drinking and going to watch Pork play live. I would love to get CDs with his classics. He was a musical visionary.

I had the great good fortune to see Pork play from a barge moored along Navy Pier at the first Taste of Chicago (or ChicagoFest or whatever) and at bars on the south side. He and the Ducks were the best live performs I ever saw. My albums are old and scrathed an I'd love to get the music on CD if possible. Is it available anywhere? Thanks. Cliff

S. O'Brien says:
Here is the website that sells them. http://thehavanaducks1.bravehost.com/

I think he sells them for $12 maybe, can't remember for sure. He doesn't have the first 3 Pork albums for sale, but some of the songs off the first three are on the Best Of and Best Of Vol. 2. I have everything and can make them for you also if you want. I would do it for free. Just let me know a way of getting them to you..

cliff says:
Thank you very much. I happened across the website and noticed the first three recordings weren't available. Those are the ones I'm familiar with (bought them at performances) and am looking for. If you can copy them to a cd I would gladly pay you for them. I can buy the later albums from the website. Thanks again.

PS I have a friend who lived in Decatur back in the day who says Pork was a heckuva golfer.

Cliff

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your kindness and hope shared your address. The music means a lot to me and, I suspect, to my young friends who never had a chance to see Pork perform live. Best regards.

We first heard Pork and his band at a bar in Terre Haute Indiana in 1980. We have two of his early albums and lost track of him when we moved to Phoenix but I can't tell you how many people we burned those two albums on to cd for!
