Kil Roi says:
The first LP I bought was Alice Cooper Killer in 1972. I played it so much I thought I would eventually wear the groove out. That copy is now framed and hanging on the wall. I have not repurchased it on CD or MP3 and probably never will. Living in the past has its quirks.

First 45 was 'El Paso' by Marty Robbins
First LP was 'Little Deuce Coupe' by the Beach Boys.

The American Dream on vinyl, of course. Way back in about 1971 or so.

I recently picked up the CD version of it and I still love it.

@Randy. I got the "Davy Crockett" 45 about the same time you did. I think it was on yellow vinyl.

@Mac. I don't remember much about the music on that Herb Alpert album, but I sure do remember the cover!

I think it was "Windy", by The Association, sometime in the 1960s.

Bought two at the same time: "Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory" by Traffic and "Harvest" by Neil Young. Still big fans of both 40 years later!

It was either
The Best of Cream (just after they broke up, so it was the first of many, many "best of Cream" albums)
Led Zep II

I'm pretty sure I'd received an album or two before that as gifts, but those were my first purchases.

Dugan Nash says:
I "borrowed" a couple of LP's from a local store that I never got around to returning and also bought a couple that I had no idea what they were but got anyway just because my older brothers told me they were good (and they were: Frampton Comes Alive, Rainbow Rising, Dark Side of the Moon), but the first album I remember saving my money for and paying for myself with my own money because *I* wanted it was Queen's "Live Killers".
