Wasn't Dino in "The Flintstones"?

Breaking news - search out album by Ricci (note spelling) Martin - "Beached" - son of the great Dean Martin recorded this one in 1977 with Carl & Dennis Wilson, Ricky Fataar, Van Dyke Parks & various Chicago alumni. Sounds like Holland era BB's. Just ordered my copy - the clips sound fab and it seems to have pretty good reviews. Tell them I sent you....

I need more R.E.M. as I do not have the album with "Beachball" on it (Reveal) but the production sound of Brian Wilson does show up in many R.E.M. songs so I must investigate further.

REM's "Beachball" from their 2001 "Reveal" might be my favorite Beach Boys sound of this century. Seeing Brian Wilson live for the first time real soon.

I am going to admit that I like Seasons In The Sun as a guilty pleasure. I hope no one has a gun.

"Seasons in the Sun" actually (originally?) done by Rod McKuen sometime in the '60s. I don't think Terry Jacks wrote it.

They were offered 'Seasons in the Sun' by Terry Jacks and there is even a demo of them singing it.

When I listen to the production qualities of Lindsey Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac songs I always think of Brian Wilson.

Several people have mentioned XTC/Dukes songs, but no one has cited "Season Cycle" from Skylarking. Jellyfish and Todd Rundgren have also frequently channeled the Beach Boys (but I can't think of specific songs!).

I was listening to the R.E.M. Unplugged set this morning and the song "At My Most Beautiful" sounded like it should have been a part of The Beach Boys 1966 record "Pet Sounds" as the production, harmonies and the piano are as BB as they can be.

Wilson wrote Surf City for Jan and Dean. #1 hit locally for them in summer 1963...that girl by the Beatles sounded beach boyish by sounding like surfer girl. Surfer Girl was released months before that girl. Here there and Everywhere..very beach boys. .

Another thread mentioned that The Ramones were influenced by the Beach Boys and after a few listens to "Rocket To Russia" (the people down the block complained!) I'll agree with that one. It sounds weird but it's true!

Anthony,
The Everly Brothers were before the Beach Boys.

Jay,
'Pale and Precious' sounds a lot like 'Hero's and Villains'.
