And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make, classic Beatle line from Abbey Road.
Name another line from any song from any artist that has as much to say.

Listen to the song and it'll make sense.

I have seen the morning burning golden on the mountains in the skies.
Achin' with the feelin' of the freedom of an eagle when she flies.
Turnin' on the world the way she smiled upon my soul as I lay dying.
Healin' as the colours in the sunshine and the shadows of her eyes.

It's certainly hard to think of a more true/enduring/all purpose lyric than that one in a pop song, although I do have lots of personal favorite lyrics.

I do have a "100 Favorite Lyrics" list I've made and once contemplated sharing but figured that might be too "ambitious" of a thing to post here. Not to mention that they're simply personal favorites and may have no "meaning" to anyone else.

Good one, Randy! I've always been partial to:
From the rocking of the cradle
To the rolling of the hearse
The going up was worth the coming down.

If there's one thing that makes me sick
It's when someone tries to hide behind politics
I wish that time would would go by fast
Somehow they manage to make it last

Most compelling? I 'spose that could depend on who you're trying to compel to do what:

"I got a lot, a lotta what I got,
and what I got's all mine...
I assure you, I can cure you
if you're feeling blue-
Come up and see me sometime"

Mae West - "Come Up and See Me Sometime"

'They say I shot a man named Gray.
And took his wife to Italy.
She inherited a millon bucks.
And when she died, it came to me.
I can't help it if I'm lucky'

'Idiot Wind' - Dylan

Dylan has so many.

Not the best, but still a good one.

The good ole days weren't always good, and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems. Billy Joel "Keeping the Faith"

Grandpa Tom says:
Great post!

My Billy Joel lyric comes from ALL ABOUT SOUL:

"This life isn't fair..
It's gonna get dark, it's gonna get cold
You gotta get tough, but that's not enough
It's all about soul..."

Actually, the entire song delivers some of the greatest lyrics ever.

All the best,
