What do you think is the worst band of all time?

Nickleback stand at the pinnacle of everything a band shouldn't be, and yet still they manage to be successful.

I am constantly baffled by this.

There are many but what comes to mind right now is Enuff Z'Nuff.

Not sure what the criteria for this is, but if we're talking about successful bands that I just can't figure out, I nominate the Rolling Stones. They've recorded 60 zillion songs and there are only about 3 of them I can stand!!!

I am going to have to say Evie Sands

Culture Club Wham, Men Without Hats The B52'S and about 80% of the 80's music that wasn't rock although there were quite a few of them also bad.

Any of the 80's hair bands. Take your pick. Followed closely by U2. I have never liked them and I can't figure out why they are so popular. Someone wrote that they are a great guitar band. Huh? The guitar sounds the same in every song. I think I'll go back to the most annoying song thread and add Veritigo.

Even if the Stones did nothing other than "Gimme shelter" they would still be streets ahead of the likes of Hinder and Creed.

Why not expand this to an entire genre?

I'd say it's a toss up between late '70s disco (e.g., The Bee Gees, KC and the Sunshine Band, Andy Gibb, Donna Summer, The Trammps) and '80s "hair metal" (e.g., Poison, Ratt, Cinderella, Motley Crue).

I've gotta work on this one for a while.
I know of one rock critic (who shall be nameless) who tends to think it might be Uriah Heep(Sp?) (because of their vocalist), but I like the hit song Easy Livin' by them. Anyway, Journey (both pre-and during the Steve Perry-era) tends to be another band that same nameless critic intensely dislikes. I don't know. There are so many bad and awful bands to choose from, IMHO. Anyway, thanks for the initial postings. I'll try to avoid Nickleback whenever possible. (lol). Yours Truly. Pat. P.S. Hi, Kevin. There are worse bands than the Cowsills.
Honestly. I think their "image" is more frightening than the music, although those "kid voices" can be really, really annoying. However, their "On My Side" album actually made it (barely) onto a Rolling Stone magazine Top 200 albums list once. Believe it or not.

J. Davis: ha-ha, that's why Baskin Robbins has so many flavors. I've always said the Doors are my favorite band!!

The Germs, hands down, are the worst band ever. With Joy Division happily accepting second-place.

To all the Doors haters out there: Oh, man, do I hear where you're comin' from! I always hated The Doors and everything about them (by "everything about them," I mean "Jim Morrison"). But in 2005 I got a free ticket to see The Doors of the 21st Century (Keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robbie Krieger from the original band, plus a hired drummer and Ian Astbury of The Cult singing), and THEY BLEW MY FACE OFF!!! Incredible energy, the crowd was in pandemonium, and they played hit after hit after hit. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

Oh, yeah - Nickleback are totally weak.

In concert, the worst bands I've ever seen are Soundgarden and The Cure. Totally pathetic, both.

Raoul Duke says:
I can usually find at least one thing to like about almost any band - it could be as singular as one hook, one lyric, one guitar solo, but there's usually something positive to be found, even if you have to search for it. I cannot say this about the Strokes.

It's all about the Nickelback! That was the name that instantly came into my head when I read the title of this thread. I can't think of anyone more atrocious and offensive to my sensibilities.

On second thought, if you consider Black Eyes Peas a band, they are much worse than Nickelback, so I would go with them as the most untalented group of jabronies I've ever had the displeasure of hearing.

Green Day, Madonna (not a band..I guess, but terrible none the less), Nickelback, Death Cab for Cutie, Bon Jovi, Dixie Chicks, Bone Thuggs n Harmony, Boyz two Men, Creed, Night Ranger, The Spice Girls, NSync, Backstreet Boys, Britney Fox, System of a Down (they could actually be the absolute worst), Dream Theater and Linkin Park
