ED S. says:
Hello everybody....I have two "Ram" vinyl records with the Apple label in the center of the vinyl disc. BUT...the Apple label (one side the whole apple, the other side the sliced apple) is not what I have. BOTH sides of the label are of the un-cut apple. I know this is not normal.
I live in Los Angeles and bought one of the albums just after it came out in 1971. The other I bought a couple of years ago, used of course.

Whats going on and what is the value?

Dee Zee says:
Ed, in the LA area, one variation of RAM was issued with the label having the whole apple on both sides. Side 2 should NOT have the Mfd by Apple at the bottom but side 1 will.
As far as the value, what did you pay for the one a couple years ago? That's the value.

It's just one of several variations. But it identifies it as being from Capitol's LA pressing plant. See Bruce Spizer's book "The Beatles Solo on Apple Records"
As for value, that depends entirely on what someone else is willing to pay. As a huge Beatles fan, such variations are somewhat interesting, but not something I'd want to collect. Seeing examples printed in Spizer's books is sufficient for me. That's just me, though. There might be others who have an impressive collection of label variations and willing to pay extra for the rare ones.

Are you looking for a core value? Watch out for seedy vendors!

I guess my answer lacked a peel? Sorry, I'll go now.

Has Granny been hitting the applesauce again?
