Fogerty also working with Kid Rock, Bob Seger, Foo Fighters, etc.

I often wonder when supermusicians go recording with other supermusicians. Lionel Ritchie went off to record with today's new Country Musicians. Of course at the time, apparently Ritchie did owe some heavy taxes.

It seems this is always merely a "boost-my-record-sales ploy". Sometimes during their early career, they would'nt be caught dead sharing the spotlight. And, they generally record with the younger and popular musicians.

No No No.... Jennifer Hudson can sing. I love her voice.

Has John Fogerty done anything remotely good since 1970?

Blue Ridge Rangers made good records & JF's solo stuff is generally good in my opinion.

A variation on this statement is also applicable to most rock/pop artists. After the first half dozen or so records, maybe a few more, most really have nothing good left to say. And I agree with EvenSteven: He must have an overdue yacht payment. Or, he's behind on the mortgage on his McMansion.

mr. critic
I'll refer you to his brilliant "Hey, not so fast there, Fox News" anti-war "Deja Vu All Over Again," or if you want something less political that's not too abysmal, the title track to his mid-80s comeback "Centerfield." Other great songs: "Eye of the Zombie," "Change in the Weather," "Superstition," and others. I could go on, but I lack a White Russian and rug that pulls the room together.

That said, I'm stumped on Jennifer Hudson myself.

The question should be "Has John Fogerty ever done a bad album?"

In my opinion, he has not.

'73 - BLUE RIDGE RANGERS = A /Great album of country music covers on which he played all instruments and did all vocals.

'75 - JOHN FOGERTY = C /decent album. a mix of covers and originals. Includes 2 classic Fogerty songs, "Rockin' All Over The World" and "Almost Saturday Night".

'85 - CENTERFIELD = A /great album! All vocals and instruments by Fogerty(except on 2 bonus tracks added later).

'86 - EYE OF THE ZOMBIE = B /another really good album

'97 - BLUE MOON SWAMP = A+ /Another great album, and his best so far. Played all instruments except bass, drums and percussion.

'04 - DEJA VU (ALL OVER AGAIN) = B /very good album

'07 - REVIVAL = B- /not bad, but somewhat disappointing

'09 - BLUE RIDGE RANGERS RIDES AGAIN = C /another album of covers and a remake of one of his older songs. Good album.

He's also had a couple of good live albums and dvds.

I've seen him live twice and he was awesome.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
I saw him after Eye and Swamp as well as the 2004 John Kerry tour.
Kenny Aronoff is great!

John Fogerty's music is excellent. All of his post Clearwater music is memorable. His live shows are great! I just wondered why he had to do the duets thing.

Kenny is one of my favorite drummers. He was with Mellencamp for quite a while.

S. Stalcup says:
Had a thought!

Fogerty did "Travelin' Band" on Jerry Lee's Last Man Standing, right? Maybe he thought, "Well, I've been around for decades while a sadly large percentage of my contemporaries died young. Jerry Lee's done an album with some old hands and (for lack of a better term) new bloods. If 'The Killer' thinks it's a good idea, who am I to dispute him?"

That said, not every collaboration on those albums is a winner, necessarily. For every Rod Stewart there's an equal and opposite Kid Rock. Maybe Jennifer Hudson is Fogerty's Kid Rock.
