Shain Edge says:
[I think that means that George was a wuss.]

That might be why George had a concealed carry permit and a firearm, because he had no proficiency in unarmed combat. That would also be a valid reason to shoot someone who is beating the heck out of you. You don't know if they will stop before you are dead. Better to be judged by 12 then carried by 6.

Maybe he should have thought about that before he accosted Martin. He was not a cop and had no business stopping the kid. He had already called the cops and they were on their way. He should have left it that, but no, he had a gun so he decided to start something....and now he is going to pay for the life he took.

Works for me. I'd rather be personally prepaired for violence, then to rely on another person to protect me, or my loved ones. Fortunately, my gf agrees equally.

Protecting yourself in your own home is one thing, going out looking for trouble - which is what Zimmerman did - is something else entirely. If he had exercised common sense he wouldn't be in this situation and Martin would be alive today.

[This is speculation. What we know is that he was following Trayvon, first in a car and then on foot. Who made first contact, we don't know.]
"By the 911 transcription, Zimmerman stated that Martin was coming towards him"

That was before he got out of the car. Martin cames towards him and shouted, then he turned and went the other way.

S. Kessler says:
Cioran: Mitt claims to have forgotten his incident, though oddly he does remember that the incident that he doesn't remember couldn't have been because the student was gay (which another participant in the incident says is ridiculous).

SK: What bothers me most about Mitt's "amnesia" of the high school incident is not so much that he may have been an overly entitled a-hole bully of a teenager (many adults have managed to grow out of truly stupid teen behavior), but that when the incident is recounted to him, he laughs at the story and laughs it off, rather than saying, well, I might not remember doing that, but if I did, I'm truly sorry I was ever that stupid. THAT would show maturity and the ability to reflect on his own behavior. But just like the way he told that inane story of his father being afraid to march in a parade in some town because he had just closed down the local factory, Mitt seems to think stuff like that is hilarious. He has this truly annoying nervous laugh when he attempts to brush off the significant of some past behavior and then tries to lamely joke about it. The result is that he belittles the concern that other people may have over his behavior and implies that they are trivial in feeling that way. He did this with the dog incident, too. The guy simply has no capacity for self-reflection or personal insight. That is a seriously disturbing personality lack for a president to demonstrate.

The amnesia of these types of incidents is quite common. The victim remembers vividly what the perps have long forgotten. I agree though, he should take more responsibilty and say if it happened, he was wrong and applogize.

I just get annoyed when people have improperly make a call on the situation. They say George was racist, except that he's 1/8th black. They say he killed an innocent 'kid', except this kid was physically more powerful then he was.

bperr says:
staggering...like Redd fox with a heart attack....staggerd, not fell down. Not fell into the WALL even...whats a stagger? I imagine Frankenstein staggering down the road.
and through your won admission, Barry was thin and the girl heavyset...ever tried to push a fat guy down before? They dont go easy, unless you take their legs out from under them, and Barry didnt do that. if he REALLY wanted to hurt the girl, he could have done that.

Yes, dss. It's the juvenile, nervous laughter he uses when responding to questions about things he has said or done that gives me the most creeps.

--"On the other hand, people are trying to make Zimmerman into a violent man by him having a 'pushing match' with his ex. Same thing."--

You once posted that if a woman came at you -- you would retaliate. And called my husband a wimp because as a GROWN MAN he wouldn't retaliate against a woman. But you are putting down a boy for pushing a girl. Nice bit of hypocrisy there, Shain.

No hypocrisy at all, except for those who both support Obama and attack Zimmerman both for their pushing 'girls'.
