kathleen - You know what statement I meant....
"Yes, when they began the farm subsidy programs, they were for everyone, but what happened was that the wealthy began investing in these huge farms buying up family farms. So, now farm subsidy primarily goes to the wealthy and not to ordinary people. That has been true since the 1980's.'

Kathleen: "The reason that I think that is a right-wing web site is because it does not agree with my more liberal my values."
Spoken truthfully. It must be right-wing if it disagrees with my liberalism, therefore I don't need to consider the truth or falsehood of the statements. All I need to know is that it is not liberal.

Kathleen: " Sounds like standard right-wing rhetoric to me."
My reply:
Sounds like U.S.Constitution 101 to me.

Now come on Clarinet--he asked what statements on the web site that I quoted were right-wing. He did not perceive it that way. I can understand that since he views the world through different lenses than I do.

Dixie Recht says:
My cite is not very right wing. It is non-partisan data analysis of all filed Form 1040's. Plain and simple.

How do you know Romney's rate. His 2011 taxes not released

You are clearly a liberal. You worry more about Romney's income, which he earned, rather than how Congress spends our tax dollars.

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 22, 2012, 8:26:57 AM PDT
Dixie Recht says:
Yes, clearly a far-left lib.

Standard reply "we need taxes for roads, fire and police, etc.

Reality is more than half our budget goes to entitlements. Think Social Security is good? You say government does a better job than private enterprise! Nonsense. 14% of your income is taken for SS. If you took at that money and invested it at 1% you would have more future income. Government mismanagement.

And government has no reason to take my money for PBS, AARP, NPR, ACORN, Planned Parenthood, food stamps for illegal aliens, welfare for illegals, "investment" in crony capitalism like Solyndra, First Solar, the car company in Europe and on and on ad nauseum.

Only libs believe what you espouse because of, in many case, envy of those that make more income

Example of a liberal rant: "This is America where anyone can make it!!"
What? You made it?! You made how much?!? GREEDY!! You should have that taken in taxes!!

Despite the indisputable proof the upper 10% pay 70% of taxes you want more. That's the definition of an Obama supporter.

Dixie Recht says:
Are you hating those that make more than you? Appears so. Yes 40% pay no income tax. It is a fact.

We all pay tax on our phone bills, gasoline, sales tax, tax on airline tickets, our cable bill, property tax, on and on. But half of us pay no income tax. It's true.

Lefties like you buy into the "spread the wealth around" mantra of the Marxists. Look how well that did for Europe.

Sorry for your jealously of the "rich". Sorry for your disappointment in how your life turned out. Must be awful to spend every waking moment thinking of how to take down those that make more than you do.

Let me guess? Obama supporter?

Dixie Recht says:
57% goes to military?? Where do you get that statistic?? Read the national budget. It is 24%. And, as a percent of GNP it is 4%

You worry Romney did not earn his money " fairly"? That's the job of IRS. They worry about that. Just because he earned a great deal of money does not make it illegal. Only "proud liberals" that are jealous "worry" about things others have and use government to take it through tax under the guise of "fairness".

Sorry for the disappointment you have for how your life turned out.

This is not a lie--I am recalling it from memory because I have followed the career of Willy Nelson. You can choose to believe it to be a lie, but I am not writing a college term paper so I don't think that I owe you 10 hours of research to back all of that up. You just don't like my answer.

Dixie: "You are clearly a liberal. You worry more about Romney's income, which he earned, rather than how Congress spends our tax dollars."

I only know the rate of Romney's 2010 tax return which was 13.9%. My rate was higher in 2011. I have not gone back and looked at my 2010 return that is in storage, but I believe the rate was even higher, just recalling the extra $$ I sent to the feds.

I am not sure why you mentioned my relationship to Romney's income. I am not concerned about Romney's income. I am concerned that our government allows a very wealthy person to pay a lower tax rate than an ordinary middle class retiree like myself. Actually, one of the reasons that he paid such a low rate is that his income is not earned, but from investment income.

I am just as concerned about how Congress spends our tax dollars as anyone. I was not focusing on spending but on the inequity of our taxation system. The citation is focused on taxation: http://www.amazon.com/forum/health/ref=cm_cd_et_up_redir?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx1EO24KZG65FCB&cdPage=48&cdThread=Tx1DQ5IPSAGABOC&newContentID=Mx1KSZEXCOB4SJJ&newContentNum=1194#Mx164EI14AGW6HO

An example of how right wing the web site is the heading of "death tax", which a right-wing term for the official term of "Estate Tax". The wb site would not use the term death tax if it was not right-wing.

Dixie: "14% of your income is taken for SS. If you took at that money and invested it at 1% you would have more future income."

You are assuming that I want to become an investment expert and that I want a lot of $$$. I am very happy with my Social Security. I am glad that others less prosperous than me are also able to use Social Security. No it is not government mismanagement. It is people like me paying into the system and drawing out when I retired. I want nothing more--just that check that comes each month. I am not trying to be wealthy.

Dixie: "And government has no reason to take my money for PBS, AARP, NPR, ACORN, Planned Parenthood, food stamps for illegal aliens, welfare for illegals, "investment" in crony capitalism like Solyndra, First Solar, the car company in Europe and on and on ad nauseum"

First of all there is no eligibility for Food Stamps or welfare for illegal aliens. The only thing that Illegal aliens get from the welfare system is Medicaid eligibility until the welfare department is able to establish that they are illegal--that is usually within 24 hours of the agency processing the application for Medicaid. This is not for the illegals. This is to be sure that hospitals and emergency rooms get paid for the care they provide to illegals. Talk to your local hospital about that. They would go under if they had more nonpaying people in the emergency room. Most of the nonpaying people in the emergency room are our citizens who are not covered by health insurance.

No, I am not envious of Romney and other wealthy people. With Romney, I would not want the karma of the outsourcing of jobs to low wage countries.

You probably pay a higher Federal Income tax rate than Romney pays on his capital gains. Which is tax on on investments which have already been taxed. Get it right, Kathleen. If you are paraphrasing the Warren Buffet-secretary scenario that is what is was about. Income tax rate vs. capital gain tax rate - apples & oranges.
