paul best says:
No what drives *skeptics* = atheists nuts over christian apologeticists, is the ingrained doctines (= ISMs) and hardened dogmas the christians minds are blinded by, io order to see any NEW truths.
As a born again christian I too am driven nuts by christian *apologetics*. Now if these skeptics wish to argue scriptures (Not the strict english trans but the english trans corrected from mistranslations by understanding the greek key words),,these atheists i avoid like the plague.
*being a apologist...blind faith*...But apologetics is dumb ideology, as in support of doctrines and dogmas = *Traditions of men* as per Paul's letter Galatians.

paul best says:
Correct, apologists are using human reasoning as OPPOSED to Divine Inspiration, Abraham was Divinely Inspired to receive God's voicve. Apologists are cardboard front men employed for some christian sect's agenda.

Why is it that people say: I've got nothing against (choose the group of people to suit) but...

Good one!
Or... "Some of my best friends are _____, but I don't think they should be allowed to (marry, have children, vote, live in my neighborhood, teach in a public school, etc.)..."

I am tired of hearing atheists say that they think outside the box, that they use their heads to form their opinions, that they do not let other people tell them how to think. BECAUSE nothing could be farther from the truth.

I don't like reliance on the set phrase "there is no smoke without fire". Sometimes there IS smoke without fire.

Clarissa

That was always one of my pet peeves was this phrase, too. Because people always wanted to insinuate that this meant someone was guilty of something that they probably even weren't. And that they were trying to say that there was smoke when there wasn't even smoke.

People who use the quoted expression say it so smugly, as if they cannot possibly be wrong.

This thread is so sporadic I really don't know if I have mentioned this before, but:

I could care less about it.

Apparently acceptable, or at least not infrequent in AmE. In BrE it would always be:

I couldn't care less about it. (Correct.)

Good one, Philip!

Assumptions that theists make about atheists, and atheists make about theists are DRIVING ME FRIGGIN' NUTS!!!

Examples:
"Believers are afraid of life and fear death."
"Atheists have no hope or meaning in their lives."
