i can only remember part of the synopsis.
An earl is kidnapped and sold as slave in america. he works and wins his freedom i think and returns to england to reclaim his title. The daughter of the family who had bought him falls in love with him and follows him to england.
I am 99.9% positive it is and earl but i can be wrong.

Sounds like it could be Pamela Clare's Sweet Release (Kenleigh/Blakewell Family Saga).

It could also be Nobody's Angel

Could it be Alyx by Lolah Burford? It sort of fits your clues.

I'm pretty sure it's Bound by Love by Edith Layton. The H was kidnapped when he was young and sold as a slave and was later sold to the h's father who eventually set him free. He returns to England to reclaim his title. The h fell in love with him since she was a little girl.
