I just finished a terrific book, Bone Deep. The hero, a young man covered from head to toe in tatoos is kept a virtual prisoner in a carnival as a sideshow freak. He escapes and seeks refuge in the heroines barn. I loved his quiet, shy, beta personality. He is also a tortured hero (my favorite kind). Can anyone think of other hero's like this; quiet shy TORTURED beta hero's?

Will from Morning Glory is also a favorite hero of mine with this same type personality. Just another example.

Relentless - Kaylea Cross
The soldier hero was in a coma for some time, and now it looks like he'll never be one hundred percent again, and so has to give up on his career. He's definitely a quiet type, a complete opposite to his twin brother.
The heroine is in some danger, and there's a scene where it looks like the hero's physical deficiency could result in her death.
Great hero.

Midnight Angel (Midnight Series, Book 3) - Lisa Marie Rice
Not sure if he's really a Beta hero, but he's reserved and has plenty of issues. He falls pretty much instantly in love with the heroine, but is worried because he's ugly and scarred and she's beautiful. What he doesn't realise initially is that she was badly assaulted and is blind as a result of it.

Try reading the other Bonnie Dee books like A Hearing Heart. She tends to write about beta heroes. Another rec is Hearts In Darkness and Poughkeepsie. Both by different authors with oh so sensitive men.

I remember a historical one from Karen Ranney,When the Laird Returns: Book Two of The Highland Lords, at least, I think this was the one. I do remember it is one of the Highland Lord series.

Oh my gosh. I just finished Poughkeepsie. Thanks so much for the recommendation. Blake and Cole and even Beckett are all perfect beta heros. Yes, even Beckett. How can you cheer for a murdering, drug dealing, arms carrying pimp? But I had my pom poms in hand. I really wanted him to have his HEA too. Anyway, again thx! This book is now on my keeper shelf

Morning Side Of Dawn (Silhouette Intimate Moments)

Tortured and hero with disability.
Not sure if he's a beta though, but this book is quite good

The play "Hobson's Choice" has a very sweet beta hero. There is a movie version floating around somewhere with Richard Thomas and Sharon Gless.
