Any genre is fine:)

Right or left handed? :) Seriously, try Highland Vow by Hannah Howell. The H is so hung up on the evil OW he is almost TSTL. The h is just what you want.

Counterfeit Lady by Jude Deveraux. Historical, post French Revolution in America.

The Rake's Rainbow, regency
One Good Turn (Signet Regency Romance), also regency, woman hero loved, married someone else, on his way home he meets a woman (heroine) with a child and hires her as his housekeeper.
The Velvet Promise, OW is really evil and hero is believing her way too long.
Rosehaven (Song Series), hated that book, hero is really mean to heroine

Mansion For My Love (Harlequin Presents) by Robyn Donald. Heroine marries hero to help keep him away from his from his sister-in-law.
Temporary Wife by Roberta Leigh. Heroine marries hero to help cover up for his affair with his boss's wife.
Makeshift Marriage by Majorie Lewty. Heroine marries hero so he can keep his job in a foreign country but the H is busy being infatuated with OW.

Robin Wilson says:
What Price Paradise-The heroine doesn't sacrifice material things, but she does give him her heart after they marry because of her pregnancy. He has trouble letting go of the OW because of their history together. (He doesn't cheat!!) This is one of my favorite reads.

That was such a good book. He would have made a huge mistake if he'd married the OW. She was really selfish, even flaunting a lover in his face if I remember correctly.

Does the H redeem himself 'enough' in Counterfeit Lady? I am interested in this book since I like to read somewhat un PC angsty historicals, but I dont want the h to be totally spineless and something for the H to wipe his feet on. Liked The Velvet Promise by the same author though.

HJ Leonard says:
IMO he does. It's been many years since I read it, but I'd read it at least 10 times. :) He's definitely better than Gavin in The Velvet Promise, for sure. And you can empathize why he puts the OW on a pedestal, even though you may not agree.

Regarding Counterfeit Lady, it is not the heroine who is spineless it is the HERO! That book started so good but then it just went downhill. I recommend that you read the lower grade reviews here on Amazon before deciding whether you want to buy it. Or at least borrow it. I wish I did.

I wish I had read the second review on the following page before buying that book:

Beware! It includes major spoilers.

Ravishing the Heiress (Berkley Sensation) fits this theme. But IMO, the H was a bit too stuck on other woman. Still a decent read.

Valentina by Evelyn Anthony. One of my all time favorites. But it doesn't have the typical HEA.

EA wrote some great books. The French Bride(not sure if that is the title) was one. She wrote a lot of spy novels too.
