Hi guys. Nice to meet you all. This is my first time posting in this forum, so I wanted to tell you how helpful you all have been when I needed to find a new book (or books) to read. But I felt like a cheater just hiding and waiting for someone else to ask for what I want. That's why today I decided to take this matter into my own hands.

Here comes...

Can anyone give me some romance novels or series (but no erotica, please) with a really quiet, stoic hero and a sweet, sunny, talkative heroine?

For the hero: I want him to be really quiet, rarely smile, very calm, smart/clever, serious, stoic, oh, and possessive (yes, the traits escalated LOL). I don't mind if he's cold and emotionless, or nice and caring (but is misunderstood or hiding it from other people.)
- The perfect examples for the cold, emotionless type would be Raphael from the Guild Hunter series and Zhadist from Black Dagger Brotherhood series (But I gotta say I prefer Raphael more.)
- The perfect example for the nice, kind, and caring type would be...Optimus Prime. I know, I know. He's not a romance novel hero. He's not even human. But he's THE hero for me. I totally love the guy, er, robot. He doesn't talk much, he's noble, he's very kind, and he's got the weight of the whole universe on his shoulders. I don't know how to explain, sorry. Let's see if I can come up with someone else. Hmm...Oh, I got one. Sheriff Sawyer from Head Over Heels by Jill Shalvis. He's totally sweet and nice, but he doesn't really talk or smile (and when he does, whew, total heat.)

For the heroine: Well, I want her to be extremely talkative, sunny, sweet, nice, and if she's funny or unique (in other word, weird) or hyperactive, that's even better. I don't mind if she's girly or tomboyish or pretty or ordinary.
- Some of the examples I can think of are Cybil from The Perfect Neighbor by Nora Roberts, many heroines from the Immortal After Dark series by Kresley Cole, and Ainsley from the Many Sins of Lord Cameron by Jennifer Ashley.

.........

Wow, that was long. It makes me realized how picky I am =_=". Sorry for being this demanding, guys. I hope some of you could tolerate to finish all of the contents above to get to this sentence.

And lastly, thank you in advance for taking your time to both read and answer this request, I really appreciate this. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Okay, this is a shorty paranormal, but certainly fits the stoic H, sunny h criteria - Crazy by Eve Langlais (price is probably a bit high given the length, but certainly a fun, original story).

Hmmm. Not quite sure about the erotica part since there is some sex, but it doesn't overpower the book. It's Hell on Wheels: Black Knights Inc. by Julie Ann Walker. Some will note that I recommended it on another thread, but the hero really fits your profile. Heroine has known him for years and laments his stony face and silence which makes her babble.

have you tried amanda quick/jayne ann krentz? several of hers have this type of pairing...off hand i don't recall any of her jayne castle books having this type of heroine but i could be wrong

Seduction (Bantam Historical Romance)

Absolutely, Positively

Kiss an Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips ( reading it right now , love it)
Slightly Dangerous (Balogh, Mary) by Mary Balogh ( one of the best in this theme)

Cannot remember which Lisa Kleypas but maybe It Happened One Autumn (The Wallflowers, Book 2)

Thank you! I actually have known about it for awhile now, thinking of reading it, too, but I kept dragging because wasn't sure I would like the hero or the heroine. Now I'll definitely read it!

Thank you, Coyote Rising! I'll check them out! And I've been thinking about reading Jayne Ann Krentz's Trust Me, but I'm not sure if I'm going to enjoy the hero and heroine. Have you read it? Any comments?

anthenadsb, I totally love Kiss an Angel! Alex and Daisy are soooo right for each other! And Daisy is very sweet! This book made me cry around the end. Especially (SPOILER ALERT!!!) when he was telling her the truth about himself while tending to her wound, I just couldn't hold back my tears!
I have Slightly Dangerous, but haven't read it yet because I wasn't sure how the hero and heroine are like, but since you recommended them in this thread, I'm sure I'll read it soon!
I'll also check out It Happened One Autumn, too!
Thank you!

The Secret Mistress sounds perfect!
And the Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke's Heart sounds totally awesome!
In fact, the heroes and both story sounds like Optimus Prime!!! I can't wait to read them!
Thank you!

I've read it & any Krentz, Quick & Castle that she publishes. They are all quite good. Lucy Monroe's "The Real Deal" & Dara Joy's " High Energy" contempraries not paranormal, but still good. You might like the Alpha & Omega series by Patrica Briggs. Diane Duvall's Darkness Dawns", Thea Harrison's Elder Races series.

I'd recommend Hidden Treasures by Nora Roberts. Jed and Dora seem to be what you're looking for. Plus it's a really good book. At least I think so ;)

Heather

edit
Okay, the book is Hidden Riches not Hidden Treasure. Good grief

I recommend this one: The Deception

not strictly romance, but riley is definitely very, very stoic. Into the Darkness by barbara michaels. the first time he smiles meg (the h) is blown away.

not coyote rising, but Trust Me is my favorite in her jayne ann krentz mode. stark and desdemona are exactly what you're looking for. you might also try Sweet Fortune jak as well. jessie and hatch are in this mode as well.
i agree that a lot of her h/H are this combo, but those two stand out for me as being more so than others.

smiley,

i lost my first post so will try again...YES, read 'trust me.' stark is a nice guy locked inside himself...desdemona is loving, giving, and just what he needs.

thought some more, and as jayne castle she has a couple more you may like (who am i kidding, you will like them all!) After Dark (Ghost Hunters, Book 1) (Curtain: Futuristic World of Ghost Hunter) book 1, and book 2 After Glow (Ghost Hunters, Book 2) (Curtain: Futuristic World of Ghost Hunter)

The first book that came to mind was Evelyn Vine Be Mine, but it's only available to read on the author's website (Chelle Michiter). The Hero is a man of few words...literally. He hardly speaks the entire book, but like you said in your description, when he does speak, look out.

It's one of my favorite books I've read this year and a definite re-read for me.

ETA: It's probably considered New Adult because the characters are in college, but its definitely not YA.

I'll second or third the JAK recommendation. She definitely favors that personality mix.

Also, try Alicia Rasley's Royal Renegade, a Traditional Regency Romance Novel (Regency Escapades).

h is a totally charming and irrepressible Russian princess and H is the British officer told to escort her to England and keep her out of trouble. . .

Honor's Splendour by Julie Garwood. In fact, a lot of Julie Garwood's historicals have this pairing - must be why I love them.

Gbaby is spot on with her recommendation. Its exactly what you described you wanted. Its a very good read!

I was also thinking Krentz/Quick/Castle would fit your needs, esp. the early Quicks: Dangerous, Deception, Seduction.... And Trust Me is a favorite. The heroine isn't the only one that's upbeat, etc! Stark has to deal with the whole family and it's very different for him. Enjoy!
