re: Elvira and Shirleen were cousins.

wait wait wait: I thought Elvira and LaTonya (next-door-neighbor in Law Man, but showed to baby-shower in Wild Man) were cousins? Aw, hell. Now I'm going to be up all night trying to re-read these and figure it out.

There will probably be some new guys too that we haven't ever heard of before. I sort of thought Lanie was being set up for her own story in some way too. Tyra was going to go visit her. Maybe she'll come back with Tyra and settle back in Denver? Bad Russian mob guys could still be after her for what she knew about Elliott and his business.

You know, there have been a few female secondary characters in the dream man series I thought were being set up for stories of their own, but then it comes out in later books that they had met someone. I think it was Tracy (Gwen's friend), Martha (Tess' friend), etc. maybe I'm just looking too much into things (obviously since they have not been main characters in subsequent books) :)

D. Stom: I think you're right about LaTonya being the cousin. I can't remember Shirleen being related to Elvira...just friends.

Lulu says:
Tracy was kind of dim (but sweet) and Martha was kind of over-the-top so they were fun to read about in a secondary character role. I'm glad they didn't end up with their own books. Lanie might fit that too. She might be too flighty/silly to have her own book.

Bitchie says:
She seems to like mostly all new heroines. Most of those pop up at the end of a book, if at all. Take the Burg- Vi wasn't in Feb's book, Rocky wasn't in Feb's or Vi's, and so on.

Same with Mountain Man, all new heroine's with each book, with some recurring men for heroes. KA seems to want us to love her men, she spends lots of time setting them up, hardly any setting up the women, and only them in the Rock Chick series.

Bitchie says:
Lanie didn't seem flighty, but she did seem a bit tame for normal KA heroines, lol!

Hi Neogirl, I have to agree, I was super happy that Tack just ignored Gwen, that too gets on my nerves. I think she was put in her place at the Club, when the girls were having drinks and she finds out Tack has kids. I mean that is a huge thing to keep from her, seems Tack knew she didn't have staying power. I think this is why the whole "Test" thing in this story didn't bug me, cuz it was more friendship between Gwen and Tack. Where as Vi and Mike had something more, so her interest in Dusty totally annoyed me. I just hated how she strung Mike along, I mean I know she was with her husband since high school, but come on you have to know seeing two guys at once is a no no, and don't get me wrong I loved At Peace and loved Joe, I just hated that part of the story and felt really bad for Mike, but think he lucked out with Dusty (one of my favorite h's).

And about BeeBee, I loved that she was kicked out, but hated that if she didn't make that play and disrespected Tyra, she would have still been around. Still, that was an awesome part, especially with how mad Tack was about it. The whole cheating with Hop/BeeBee was bad, but realisitic in that world, and really does parrallel SOA.

Neogirl says:
Hi R.B Oliva - Vi is definitely one of my least favourite KA hs. I actually rank 'At Peace' way down the scale of fav KA books - mainly because I didn't like Joe for nearly half the book but then when he turned around I grew to love him I was still REALLY annoyed with Vi and her treatment of Mike - put me off a lot of the book. And yeah I know she apparently had her "reasons" but she was basically going from Mike's bed straigh to Joes. The fact that they didn't apparently 'do the deed' (but just about everything else!) still doesn't excuse her in my opinion. If that had been Joe - or any other H in a KA book - we would all be outraged and probably definitely label it cheating....(just IMO of course). I am with you - Vi had absolutely no right to check out Dusty and I would have loved to see both Dusty and Mike give Vi the brush off.

You are also right about BeeBee (and what is with that name??) - I dont think I could have handled her being around. I was also mad Hop apologised to Tyra for leaving her with the skank (beebee) but said absolutely nothing about the fact he was carrying on with her! I guess the 'brothers' really don't have to explain themselves do they. I have real concerns for Tab being raised in that environment. I hope this doesn't sound like I am taking the high moral ground but I am not too sure about Shy. As even Tack explained there are 3 guys that don't cheat around (out of the whole club???). The attitude of Tack early in the book really put me off - women really are things to him (and yes I know this changed in a big way with Tyra). But Shy is going to have this same attitude - there will always be BeeBees around....

Anyway, I guess this does upset me - even though I know it is probably realistic...but I would rather Tabby find someone out of the Chaos world.

In reply to an earlier post on May 24, 2012, 10:33:07 PM PDT
I have to agree I'm kinda worried about how Tab and Shy's story will evolve. According to the epilogue he was enjoying the Chaos groupies. And hopefully Tyra can install some backbone in Tabby in this department and give her some sense of self respect to know this is not the right was to treat a woman. I just hope its not Tabby chasing Shy, or him being a Man Wh*** and she waiting on the side lines until he sows his oats and is ready to commit. And I really hope there's no seperation in the middle of the book or anywhere in the story, I hope when the story begins is the start of them with no gaps.

Hi know! You sound like you are fretting as much as me - there is so much we HOPE doesn't happen!! I think I am kinda sad devoting time to what "might be" and this is only fiction for goodness sake.....I've got to get a life or at least find something new to read...feel a little lost now!

In reply to an earlier post on May 24, 2012, 11:32:24 PM PDT
I feel the same way, having read this one, and also Gio by Elizabeth Reyes. Both were much anticipated and I read through them so quickly I feel kinda let down. Not with the storys, they were awesome, but that I've finished them and that they are over. I was on a high, and now I'm coming down and don't know what to do.

Yep, I'm worried about Tabby and Shy. And it is kinda sad I'm so invested in these characters. But it must say something about KA's writing, and really is what attracts me to her books.

Elvira and LaTanya being cousins sounds familiar, too. D. Stom, if you find out for sure let us know.

I think it is in Law Man. Remember Elvira was visiting LaTonya when she was "witness" to the scene made by Mara's mom and aunt.

Wondering about that deleted post . . . did someone use a bad word, or did we get self-promo in the middle of the thread.

Having said that, <sigh> I'm going to have to stop reading KA for at least a year, I think. I'm bored, yes, bored, with Tack and Tyra. I've been reading for 3 days and I'm only at 60%, and any of you who know me know that I usually finish a book, even a loooonnnnng KA, in about 3 hours. I feel like I could change the names, and I'd be reading pretty much any of her contemps. So, while I'm enjoying it in a rather detached, bored fashion, I'm not sucked in, I'm not flipping screens like a mad woman, and I'd rather browse for books on ammy than read. What's up with that? Guess I'm in a bit of a rut.

Can anyone tell if this is another story where the H has kids with OW and doesn't have any hope of having them with the h?

No, this is not the same.

That is actually an issue for Tyra in the book. She very much wants children but Tack already has two almost fully grown (18, 16 years old) kids. The issue was resolved in a very, very satisfactory manner! :)

Akinna says:'s my post that was deleted..wonder why, did I use a bad word? Don't think so but then again I don't know Amazon's level of sensitivity and sometimes it's hard to know which words native English speakers would see as bad words (apart from the obvious ones which I wont write since I don't want to be deleted again). English isn't my first language so sometimes I mess up :/
Oh well, I basically said that I also hope that the time jump won't be huge for Tabby and Shy's story. Tabby in her early 20s when they get together would be awesome. I'm really excited about this book and have high hopes about it :)
I also said that I too am tired of the crazy ex wives. A crazy/mean/abusive ex (male or female) can be a great addition to a story but not when it feels too routine-like and I'm sadly starting to get that feeling with these loud, crazy, don't care about their kids women. I was happy that Mike's ex wife redeemed herself in Games of the heart but I'd like to see a "normal" ex, I mean it doesn't mean that they all have to be friends and hang out all the time :)

I think that since Mike's sister was so crazy/ over the top, that it would have been overload to have his ex ratcheted up as high as usual.

I think you're right. Crazy people are typically the exception, not the rule. It would've been overkill.

D. Politis says:
@Ms. Mayhem: I completely agree with you. Kristen Ashley needs to stop the similarity in all her books. I liked Tack, he was a fun hero. But overall the same, same, same refrain through the whole book.

1. In every KA book, the heroine will get kidnapped. Sometimes twice.
2. There will be way too many scenes with hair, clothes, makeup, or shoes.
3. We do not need nauseating detail about how you moisturized, brushed your teeth, or whatever.
4. The heroes have crazy ex-whatevers.
5. The hero will tell the heroine she is sweet.
6. Someone in the book is an amazing cook and we are treated to big descriptions of what exactly they eat and how delicious it is.
7. The hero will tell the heroine he wants to look in her eyes. "Eyes, now"
8. All of the heroes love women with big curves. T and A.
9. The hero will tell the heroine he likes her attitude, or spirit.
10. The hero will have a previous woman he thought about getting serious with, but she ended up with a different hero from an earlier book. Still the hero will mention this previous woman to his current woman. Not cool.
11. There will be many references to how other guys find the heroine hot. Many times, the hero will say other men are masturbating while thinking about her. What the....?

In Motorcycle Man I also feel cheated because KA wrote about how Tack was using Cool Whip. Well we get a mention of it in the book, but it is a closed door love scene. He gets the Cool Whip out of the fridge, and next thing you know Tyra says we ate the whole tub last night. Really not cool. Don't tease the reader like that and not pay up. It's mean.

I will reread MM in a few months but I feel it could have been much better. I really didn't respect Tyra for jumping into bed right away with a man. Yeah, she tells Tack she never does that but why would he believe her?

I did like how bad boy and rough around the edges Tack was. I guess all of KA's books are starting to blur together for me since she writes them so cookie cutter. I still say Golden Dynasty is her best because it is really unique.

I couldn't agree more with everything you said. My main problem is no. 10. I'm sorry, but at some point this has to get real uncomfortable for some of the heroines instead of becoming buddy-buddy with the ones their men "lost". And, unfortunately, we are going to see this again in Wood and Maggie's story :(

Don't forget the obligatory "it's a good thing you're so hot/sexy/pretty/good in bed, cause otherwise you'd be a PITA" variation!
