I own both and wanted to know if they are lendable. I know the first one is so I was just curious.

Go to your manage your kindle page and look. find the book and check the options, if the lendable option is there- it's lendable! Easy peasy!

That's what I thought but when I click on lend it takes me to an error page. I emailed amazon and they said it wasn't lendable but then why would it have the option. I've lent and borrowed plenty if books and have never had this problem. Very confusing...

Sounds like a glitch somewhere. It's hard for me to say for sure, because there are the original, Writer's Coffee Shop versions, and the newer ones from the main stream pub(can't remember who it is, sorry).

I know. It is so confusing and amazon isn't being very helpful.

Yeah, the problem is, they aren't always as knowledgeable as you'd think they would be, especially with so many versions of the same books out. I'm figuring the writer's coffee shop ones should be lendable, and the Random House one would not be. Yep, I just looked, the RH ones don't say lending enabled.

Do you happen to know which ones you have? The publisher would be listed in the front of the books.

Writer's Coffee Shop Publishing House. The weird thing is if I go to the product page of either of them it doesn't show that I own it but I can pull up the order for them both from Manage my Kindle. This is very frustrating.

Ok, another question- did you BUY it from TWC or did you buy it on Amazon? Or, what did you mean by won it? Books not bought or gifted from Amazon won't show up at all on your manage your kindle page, and are not lending enabled

But, they also are less likely to have DRM protection, so as long as you don't just spread it all over the net, technically, you could "lend" it to a friend, but you'd have to directly email the file and they'd have to manually put it on their kindle

I bought it on Amazon. I've never lent or borrowed a book except through libraries and Amazon. I lent on the first one no problem. Thanks for all the help by the way. I'm not used to having such an issue lending a book, lol.

I do know you can only lend them once, maybe that's the problem?

I've only lent the first one not the next two.

I bought the first two and tried to lend Darker and couldn't. I don't know why, I bought it on amazon, but back in November. I concluded the version I had wasn't lendable. Even when I call it up, it doesn't give the "you ordered this on such and such date" like all my other books. I've never bought anything anywhere else, so I don't get it.

I heard somewhere that while all three used be be available to lend, the new publisher has changed that so that newer purchases of the books cannot be loaned.

Same thing for me too.

I believe you are correct. When the first one was published by the Writer's Coffee Shop, it was around $7 and lendable. Now that Random House is the publisher, the price has risen and it is no longer lendable. The old listing was removed, so that if you had purchased under the old listing, you'll get a page not found error if you try looking at the book details in Manage Your Kindle.
