Shannon Muniz says:

I am looking for another book I read back in the mid 90's. I remember very little. I believe it begins in Russia...The heroine marries the hero in a rushed ceremony he was not happy with. He ignores her fully. She starts attending balls in what at the time were provocative dresses. I remember that the front of one dress went up to her neck but when she turned around her back was bare. Another had an opening in the fron that stetched down to her belly button. The hero is struck by her beauty and becomes jealous seeing how glamorous she has become. He stops seeing his mistress or ex-fiance and falls madly inlove with the heroine. I know its not alot to go on. The only details I am sure on are the beautiful, one of a kind dress she wears. Help!

SOLVED: The original poster, Shannon, confirmed that it is The Copeland Bride by Justine Cole aka SEP from 1983

I would like to read this too. I hope you can help find this.

Thank you very much in advance.

Jenny

I swear we just saw this in another thread...within the past couple of weeks, too. Can't remember if there was an answer, though.

More info from Shannon:

"I'm less than positive that part of the book is set in Russia but then moves to London. I remember the hero's aunt or maybe mother helping the heroine when she goes to attend the balls....it seems she encouraged her to dress provacatively to catch her husband's eye....I remember when he reached london, he sees her at a ball wearing a black? dress that covers up to her neck in the front and in the back has a large, very low V shaped cutout. I can't seem to remember why they got married quickly, but know that the hero was not pleased by the arrangement. I wish I remembered more! "

The original poster's name is Shannon Muniz, on the second page of that thread.

I hope someone can help.

Thank you.

I think you may be thinking of Whitney, My Love by Judith McNaught. She is in France when she meets the hero.

Thank you for the suggestion, but this is not it. It does sound like a great read though!

this sounds a little bit like one i want to find. she's being abused by an uncle in russia and the H deposits the h with soemone in france. (H is american).

The dress you're describing sounds like one worn by the h in Julia Quinn's book Dancing at Midnight. The abusive Russian uncle reminds me of Patricia Grasso's book To Love a Princess. Could your friend be mixing plots from different books? I know this has happened to me before when I've tried to recall certain scenarios from novels I haven't read for some time.

I don't think that this is it...but thanks for the suggestion! I've almost given up complete hope of finding it :(

Thank you Sunny Native for both of your suggestions. I reviewed both books and neither is it.

I hope you find it, and please share if you do. Sounds interesting.

Susan Johnson writes some books set in Russia Seized by Love had a Prince forced to wed his pregnant lover and acting like a spoiled brat about it. I read it quite awhile ago and don't remember if there was anything about the dresses she wore.

Thank you LLC for your suggestion, but this isn't it. It seems somewhat similar in that the H was forced to marry, but I can't seem to remember why.

Could it be Royal Rapture (Lovegrams) by Robin Gideon - 1993

A Dressmaker's Dream
Natasha's amazing talent with needle and thread had earned her a coveted position as seamstress to the Russian Princess Anastasia. But the excitement of working within the sumptuous royal chambers could not compare with the thrill she felt when she first beheld the princess's handsome brother. Prince Anton was a magnificent golden-haired lion, but his reputation as an artful seducer was well-known, and Natasha knew she dared not trust him. Yet his silken whispers and searing touch soon had her surrendering to him in a moment of perfect passion that she prayed would never end...

A Prince's Passion
Prince Anton told himself that the alluring, auburn-haired dressmaker was a mere distraction from his noble duties as head of the family dynasty. Yet there was something irresistibly tempting about her--something that drew him against his will. Unable to deny her anything, Anton suddenly realized that the voluptuous vixen bad turned the tables on him. She was a witch, a siren and she'd enchanted him with her fresh-faced beauty, fiery spirit and brazen passion! Although he cherished his freedom above all else, he soon found himself a slave of her insatiable desires--and his own raging need to possess her ... again and again!

I looked into Forever in Your Embrace and even though this is not the book I am searching for I purchased it because it does sound like a good read. Thank you!

JennyG. this might be the book. I purchased it today. I just wish it was a Kindle book that I could download and start reading ASAP. I'll keep you posted if it is the right book. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi Shannon,

I hope we find this. Here are some suggestions from readers on likesbooksdotcom message board:

Angela says: "Sounds very similar to The Accidental Bride by Jane Feather. The husband is indifferent to the heroine and she starts wearing some sexy dresses to get his attention. Not sure if this is it though. It takes place in England and was published in 1999.

KayWebbHarrison says: "Parts of the description resemble two of the Delaney books by Iris Johansen: Wild Silver (The Delaney's, the Untamed Years) (May 1988) and Satin Ice (The Delaney's, the Untamed Years II) (Nov 1988). The second is set mostly in Russia and has an evil mother-in-law. I also remember the inappropriate dress. However, I don't remember the hero being indifferent to the heroine.
