Here are my freebies and cheapies for the week....
Pride and Prejudice - free!
Jane Eyre - free!
Jacob's Return - 0.99
A Fool Again: A Novella - free!

I guess it's good I'm on a classic-reading kick, since they are all free on Kindle! Just finished Jane Eyre and I loved it. Next up is Pride and Prejudice.

Oh thank you so much, KT !
I've been waiting for her new book

I'm heading that way......

Thank you again :)

There's a new freebie out: A Vote of Confidence

It's a historical set in the early 1900s that features an independent h who decides to run for mayor and an H who is her opponent in the mayoral race. Haven't read it, but it averaged 4.5 stars.

Books I've read off this thread---
Claimed and Hunted (Brides of Kindred) plus Masks- Good though purple durple at times erotica
Lord Ruin- Very good, will re-read for sure.
Her Own Best Enemy- Good, fast paced romantic suspense.
Slow Hands- Good and very sexy-sweet.
Baby I'm Yours- Good (short but very cute)
The Charmer- Fantasy a la Dara Joy.
A Fool Again- Nice if you like Eloise James (it's fuffly light and funny)
Takedown- Fast paced of medium length. I got the 'smart' of the book though I didn't feel the connection of the characters.
Her Perfect Revenge- OK, but the last quarter of the book was too much for me with too much angst and too long to resolution.
Once a Cowboy- Omigod, contived out the wazzo!

McKaren says: just an fyi- dailycheapreads.com -- Thanks for the heads-up. I keep hoping they'll list mine, but their policy says something about can't be too sexy though some of their books certainly seem so.

I am SO ready for some R&R. Just got my third ebook uploaded, and I am beat. Going to hit the shower then settle in with my Kindle and read.

I really liked Slow Hands by Leslie Kelly. So I got Heated Rush too, the other book in that bachelor auction series. I liked Slow Hands best. Agree on Baby I'm Yours -- cute. Did anyone pick up The Color of Heaven when it was on for .99 of the Eloisa James novella A Fool Again? Love the first sentence: "A well-bred lady never ogles a man from behind her black veil, especially during her husband's burial." I'm off to finish that first.

Marie Force is such a sweetheart. She's become a must read for me.

Finished the first J.R. Rain Vampire for Hire book last week. Not a romance but a good book nonetheless. The conclusion to the romantic thread was a bit unconvincing but the rest of the book was topnotch.

I've got so many unread books. Need to clear some of them out. Just haven't had much time to read lately, but I keep tabs on the list so I can go grab some goodies.

This may have already been noted, but I admit I didn't go through 300 posts to find out. Marliss Melton's SEAL Team 12 books are on kindle for $1.99.

The first one is: Forget Me Not (Navy SEALs, Book 1)

Wow, many Marliss Melton books are just $1.99! She writes a popular romance suspense series about Navy SEALS. I assume her publisher is taking advantage of the popularity of Navy SEALs this week! Lucky us!

Forget Me Not
Time to Run
Too Far Gone
In the Dark
Show No Fear
Don't Let Go
Next To Die

In regards to Marliss Melton, where is she? I know she was having some problems with her publisher ( I think that was the situation) but havent heard a anything about a next book. I really enjoy her SEAL books and wish she'd come out with another one or 10! Anyone know anything else?

0.99 cents today:

The Hanover Square Affair (Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries)

I haven't read it yet but it was on my wish list. Ms. Gardner is also Jennifer Ashley of The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie

I understand it's more of a mystery but I thought I would give it a try.

Daily Cheap Reads is listing LOTS of .99 books right now. you can like them on facebook for notification.

Just a quick FYI - Barbara Samuel's A Bed of Spices is back to 99 cents. It had been previously raised to $2.99. Also In the Midnight Rain which appears to be a contemporary by Barbara Samuels. I haven't read that one, but I love the author's writing style, and it has great reviews.

TravelingGal says:
I definitely would not consider The Hanover Square Affair (Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries) a romance, but it is an excellent mystery. Also, it is much more realistic look at the Regency period than many books.

I also found Whispers on the Wind for $.99. This appears to be a re-release of a trad pub book by the author. I haven't read it yet but the description - a historical ghost romance - makes it sound like lots of fun.

My friend Cindy just told me that Amazon emailed her. They're going to offer Book 1 in her Garden series free for a limited time. I imagine it will start tomorrow. This is a wonderful book! If you haven't read it, get your copy -- In the Garden of Temptation by Cynthia Wicklund. I just finished the 3rd book in the series, and I know she's got a 4th book in the planning stages.

Joan Reeves-thanks for the info. This book sounds very interesting. I appreciated your review and how you shared your experience of reading it during your daughter's surgery. Keep up the recommendations!

Ummm...excuse me but which part of "please, no promos in this thread" did you not understand? It is against Amazon's TOS to try to promote your book in these discussions unless it is specifically stated in the OP that self promos are allowed OR unless you are in the authors forum.

Can anyone that's read Marliss Melton's books comment on how they compare to Suzanne Brockmann's? Are they as steamy, etc. as her Troubleshooter series?

mnix says:

I've read both and while I'll always love Brockmann's series, Prince Joe and that whole series still rock to me, when it comes to the longer length books, Marliss is my favorite. Not quite so much angst involved. Of course this is just my opinion and I'm sure others feel differently. You can't go wrong with either of them :)

A Wallflower Christmas by Lisa Kleypas is $4.49 right now.

In reply to an earlier post on May 10, 2011, 5:45:58 PM PDT
I've only read one Melton (Forget Me Not) but liked it. I found the prose itself a bit awkward and not nearly as accomplished or smooth as Brockmann's but it wasn't poor. The story didn't have nearly as many layers and meat as the better Troubleshooters but I really liked the premise and it had good leads and a fair amount of dramatic and romantic punch.
