Does the world of Science know about this? Most men can't do alpha at the KA level without turning into total pr!cks so this info's best kept on the DL.

I know, I was thinking the same. Ick. Good time for the "vat of bleach", (giggle).

It doesn't seem normal for a man to go downtown after business has has already been concluded. I mean usually trips downtown happen prior to going into the office to get work done. I do not know any men personally who would be all that interested in cleaning up their own essence left behind. Maybe I am wrong but I don't think so. That was a wtf moment for me.

You girls are soo funny and just crack me up!! lol I can't believe I am reading this discussion on cleaning up "down town" !!!!

Wondercat - I too was slightly concerned no mention of condom especially when the skank is around and Tack seemed to do anything that moved...After Beebee I would have requested the bucket of bleach for Tack to dip his stick!!

Lulu says:
I'm thinking Tack is smart enough to know he needs to use protection with BeeBee or any other groupie girl like her. After all, he wouldn't want to get trapped by knocking up some random girl (which is why he married Naomi in the first place). Tyra he knows is not like that, though they still should have had the conversation.

Neogirl says:
Actually that is a good point Lulu - I am going to presume he used protection with everyone else then....:)

re: It doesn't seem normal

I think that's a personal preference (I want, I like, I don't want, I don't like, etc.), not a standard (water is wet). Again, I get that it squicks some people out to the point of them thinking they need a vat of bleach (and I am inferring from your post, that you lean toward this end of the spectrum - is that incorrect?), but for others there is absolutely no issue.

{[ETA:] I am not saying one preference is wrong and the other is correct. I don't want to say that everyone should adhere to my standards or practices or behaviors, but I will say I do not necessarily agree with your statement. I understand that your preferences are your own, and I am not trying to convert you or anyone else. My original post about it was meant to open up more discussion by introducing a different perspective, and (I think I was at least mildly successful) take some of the edge off a difficult subject using humor. I'm not trying to be offensive, and if I have offended, I apologize.}

And I repeat, if his essence is that bad, then WTF are either of them thinking?

Just finished a book were the h went hiking for 6-7 hours to keep away from H. She returns to the house and H seduces her as she walks in and goes downtown. All I could think of is 'yuk'. It was a historical, so I'm guessing that was the norm. I think Tack was right in telling her to clean up. She should reciprocate in kind!

Personally, I don't love to kiss hubby after he's been downtown. Just a personal preference, I don't like the taste, but I'm getting used to it, it doesn't bug me as much as it used to. Hubby doesn't have a problem the other way- he likes the taste of himself on me, finds it hot. I agree with D.Stom, it's a personal thing, and neither is right or wrong. I just figured KA decided to make Tack a guy who didn't like it, no biggie.

The biggie to me was just that KA made an issue of it in the first place. If she hadn't made a point of Tack telling her to go wash up, no one would have thought a thing about it. Sure, someone probably would have noticed that the main event had concluded, and now they were starting up again, maybe even said "eww" but I don't think it would have been near the issue it's turned into

Isn't it funny that this incident stood out to so many people? (including me) I don't think it's a matter of personal preference so much as what's considered the "norm" in romance land on the "order of business!" Is there a (nora) Robert's Rules of Order to handle these "giving them the business" meetings?

TravelingGal says:
The heroine going to "clean up" (and put her panties back on) seems to be a staple of KA's novels. Personally, I'm trying to decide if the H going two - or three or more - rounds, regardless of pitstops, is exciting or exhausting. :-)

But seriously who else is angry we didn't get to see the Cool Whip scene? We are told Tack takes the Cool Whip out of the fridge and next thing you know, Tyra is saying we ate the whole tub last night. What a disappointment. That was no time to do a closed door love scene KA.

Jmv_17 says:
ITA!! That definitely should have been a much detailed scene! I almost cried when it was just mentioned in passing :(

D. Politis says:
@Jeanne: What really made me mad was KA teased her fans by putting on Facebook or Twitter or her blog, one of those, that she was currently writing a love scene with Tack and Cool Whip. (This was before the book even had a release date) It was just mean of her to tease us like that and not deliver. Not cool, KA. (I still love your work though)

Jmv_17 says:
And you know it would have been long, hot and ammmmaaaazzzziiinnnnggg - they used the whole freaking tub of cool whip!!

Posted on May 27, 2012, 7:44:19 PM PDT
Lulu says:
I wanted that scene too. I know it's tempting to tease fans because they have to post something on their blogs and fb on a regular basis (and KA isn't the only author guilty of this by far) but, please, follow through!

Heh, have been loving reading this discussion. I have to admit I was seriously disappointed with MM, though. I read Lady Luck right before it, and actually loved that one, but Tack kind of crossed the line into complete d**khead for me. And because of the first description of him with longish graying hair and a goatee - and the fact that Tyra kept wrapping her arms around his "gut" - I just couldn't get over the mental image of an aging biker with mutton chops, a mullet and a beer belly. It wasn't a sexy book for me! :D I'm actually not a big fan of the "Dream Man" universe at all - if I'm reading and thinking "God, I'm glad I'm not this woman", it isn't exactly a dream world for me!

Posted on May 27, 2012, 9:06:39 PM PDT
Bitchie says:
I don't remember any references to a gut, and I thought of his hair as more like Robert Downey Jr-ish, greying around the edges and slightly in need of a cut.

Wow I'm not alone. I DNF Motorcycle Man too. The so called H was so much of a jerk it was at first funny then just boring.
But everyone loves it! I was feeling very minority-ish

Yeah, seriously - IKR (I know, right)?!?!??!?!!!!

don't get me wrong, I'd rather it be real whipped cream, but if it we're talking about Tack...I'm not sending it (and never him!) away, you know??

re: DNF'd MM
Have you tried going back and finishing? Most of us were about to go wall-banger with it, but there's a point where everything just 'clicks' and the whole story's incredible.
