I am reading the first book right now and so far it is pretty good. It's a bit more explicit that what I am used to and the characters are pretty quick at "getting together".

How does this series hold up? Does it get better or worse, are the books hit or miss, all the books are similar?

The Male characters in my opinion are pretty similar. The books are really good, but frankly the only one I really "felt" for was Connor McCloud. I think he's in Standing in the Shadows. Is that the one you're reading?

I am reading Behind Closed Doors (Seth and Raine). I think the one you are talking about is next.

That's the one I read first as well. I've read all of them available on Kindle. I love the suspense in Shannon McKenna's Books. And they're really hot. But with all of them I've read while I acknowledge that they're great books, I always feel an emotional disconnect. And sometimes I get irritated with the entire chapters devoted to the villan's thinking and plotting, although I know it's necessary. But it could just be me.....As far as romantic suspense goes, I'm very partial to Roxanne St Claire and the whole Bullet Catchers series.

Thanks, I've read the whole BC series as well, they are great.
I will continue with these one at a time and see how it goes. They are a pretty good deal for the Kindle and I just got mine a few days ago.

I absolutely love all of McKennas books. I agree with DC, Connor was my fav character as well, but I loved them all. Im actually rereading Standing in the Shadows right now.

I've read two of McKennas' McCloud books, Behind Closed Door and Ultimate Weapon. I couldn't stand Behind Closed Door. Though her writing is good and engaging, I couldn't stand Seth and most importantly, the heroine (she's so bad I blocked her name out of my memory) is one of the most TSTL character I've ever read. Hated her. I read other reviews of the series and discover that all of them feature weak willed women and the TATL (too alphas to live) men that emotionally abuses them. All except Ultimate Weapon because it features a kickass heroine. Since I like McKennas' writing, I decided to give it a try. I actually liked that book better because the characters didn't annoy me so much. It's quite dark and the h/h both been through hell in the past. While I traded in Behind Closed Door, Ultimate Weapon was a keeper for me.

I've read them all and loved them all! I must say that the sex continues through the whole series. Thes McCloud brothers and friends can go at it all night long. If you think Behind Closed Doors had a lot of sex, wait untill you read Standing In The Shadow's. IIIIIEEEEEE! I can hardly wait for the next book to come out.

How time flew! OP was 2 yrs ago :) Anyway saw this discussion & I just have 2 give my 2 cents...I read all the McCloud Bros. series except 4 'Ultimate Weapon'. I love her books but her latest one is going into paranormal & I'm not too keen into that genre so I dont know if I'll continue to read that series. But over all Ms. McKenna's writing is really good (I'm comparing her to the writing of Pamela Clare who also writes Romantic Suspense but she doesnt deviate from that).

Ultimate Weapon was great - Tam is tough but awesome. I think Val is a good man for her - they are cut from the same cloth.

Connor is still my favorite McCloud, though, alpha but VERY vulerable.
