Gurney says:
There's no "violation" of gravity. The prevailing theory is that expansion is taking place because of dark energy that permeates space, and works as a sort of anti-gravity that's pushing galaxies apart.

THIS universe began with the Big Bang.

To set the record straight, I didn't say that cosmologists believe that the BB was the beginning of everything.

I was not sure -- but since my retirement hobby is physics I tend to be a bit OCD about these things.

Oh..and *which* "Scripture"? There is more than one version of Christian "Scripture" and there are multiple religions with "Scripture" on the planet.

Yea, scripture sure does agree with science. It (scripture) stated the sun orbits the earth, and the church killed people for suggesting otherwise.

you are either fos or a comedian

show where the bible agrees EVERY way with science

genesis described teh big bang pretty good
considering what they knew about QM back then
but EVERY way NFW

no it doesnt
that is your erroneous interpretation
based on your fallacious self knowledge of physics

by your illogical krappp rockets could never leave earth because gravity would stop i t

so start thinking what is making the universe expand
which it IS doing
and stop making ridiculous claims that gravity is violated

what does jesus have to do with science
and scripture telling us everything in EVERY way the same ??

Re Ben West, 1-15 7:00 PM: "I said the Gravity of other Universes within our Multiverse are having an influence on our Universe." Indeed you did -- and you were wrong. Furthermore, Kaku made no such claim.

"IF you understand Scripture, you will find that it agrees in EVERY way with EVERY discovery of science and history." Drivel. Scripture is factually erroneous [1], logically inconsistent [2], and self-contradictory [3]. Where did you come up with such an astoundingly silly thesis? As for determining anything about a god, see [4].

RE: "Dear Norman, It seems quite clear that you have no idea what Scripture is saying."

**It seem quite clear "Scripture" has nothing to say about science. Or, at least I can't find "Scripture" cited in any scientific publication. What an individual *scientist* may or may not believe is quite irrelevant to actually doing science.

Dear Monk, Chapter and verse..."

Joshua 10:12-13:

"Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day."

Ecclesiastes 1:5:
"The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose."

Psalm 93:1
"(...) the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved."

Psalm 104:5
"Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever."

1 Chronicles 16:30
"(...) the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved."

G. Stanley says:
"Correction. Religion killed people. The Church is the invisible body of believers in Jesus Christ who have been born again. Try to do better."

Nice special pleading there. Christianity is a religion, just like Islam is. For centuries it was an unquestioned fact, revealed to man by God himself, that the Earth was immobile and resting on the firmest of foundations. This was an extremely strongly held belief:

1605-1621 Pope Paul V, issued a decree in 1616 condemning pro-heliocentricity work of Galileo Galilei.

1623-1644 Pope Urban VIII, issued a 2nd decree in 1633 condemning Copernicanism.

1655-1657 Pope Alexander VII, issued a Bull in 1664 reinforcing that Copernicanism was heretical

`With regard to the opinion of Copernicus, Bellarmine, who heads the Congregations that deal with such matters, told me himself that he holds it to be heretical, and that the doctrine of the earth's motion is beyond all doubt whatever (senza dubbio alcuno) contrary to Scripture.'

Starting with Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo and Newton PROVED the Bible was false when they showed the Earth went around the Sun and was not fixed and immobile. Both Paul V and Urban VIII KNEW the damage this information could do and suppressed this information to the point of forcing Galileo to recant and imprisoning him, and burning Giordano Bruno to death over it.

G. Heron says:
andthehorseirodeinontoo

"our universe is finite
that is conclusively proven"

This has not been proven at all. What determines if the universe is finite or infinite is the curvature of spacetime and the best we can tell at present is that the universe is flat and therefore infinite.

BPL: Which people? When?

GMS: Both Paul V and Urban VIII KNEW the damage this information could do and suppressed this information to the point of forcing Galileo to recant and imprisoning him, and burning Giordano Bruno to death over it.

BPL: Excuse me. Bruno's death had nothing to do with heliocentrism. His main offense was calling Jesus a "magician" who used magic to simulate miracles.

Disagree that "God's Truth" has any role to play in science. Disagree that modern science has confirmed anything from the Bible. You're mixing apples and oranges.
