OT: Favorite Beatle?

I've been to the Beatles a ton lately, and I've been wondering what makes their songwriting sensibilities so interesting. It would be how each Beatle has his own style.

I know there are ton of music buffs here, so who's your favorite Beatle? Mine is Paul, he was definitely made the most happy go lucky, joyfully poppy one, especially in the later career.

A customer says:
Ringo. Dude is a beast behind the kit, and although he sings the least songs of the four, I like his voice best.

FOGE says:
Lennon

Paul is my favorite, but that's probably at least partly due to how much I like his post-Beatles stuff.

DVvM says:
Ringo. He was the sense of humor and the everyman who kept a trio of titans grounded.

My favorite beetle has to be the lightning bug.

K Archer says:
See, I was hoping that the OP spelled "Beatle" wrong so we can all start going all scientific on him (and pick really weird beetles and make everyone look them up and laugh about it) but, oh well, he got it right...so, yay...and stuff...

I'd have to say Ringo...hard choice though

Definitely better than ladies or dung.

Have to go with Sir Paul McCartney.

I'm not a big Beatles fan, but I like George and John the best.

Paul is not nearly as talented as he or his fans think he is, and Ringo is even less talented.

Posted on Nov 28, 2012, 9:24:51 PM PST
A customer says:
Yeah, Ringo isn't talented at all. Any Tom, Dick or Harry on the street could play those fills in "A Day In The Life", no problem. And Paul doesn't even write his own music. Daz Dillinger and The D.O.C. ghostwrote it all.

I admit, I have opinions that tend to bother people.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 28, 2012, 9:30:42 PM PST
It's probably just that line when you move from opinion ("not my personal favorite") to empirical judgment ("not talented").

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 28, 2012, 9:53:19 PM PST
Understood.

Opinions are like noses (and a few other selected body parts, lol)

Jawwaad says:
My favorite Beatle is the Dung Beatle as it can push a whole pile of crap with no problem. Reminds me of some of the fanboys here.

A customer says:
Speaking of which, is "ass" the most synecdochically used word in the English language?

"Get your ass out of bed"
"Your ass is mine"
"Move your ass"

It's gotta be up there.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 28, 2012, 9:58:41 PM PST
After all of these posts about Beetles, I'm starting to think if favorite insect is a good topic thread...

Soulshine says:
Bailey. Just kidding I never liked him or Sarge.

And was it John or Paul that had that line about Ringo not even being the best drummer in the Beatles?

Posted on Nov 28, 2012, 10:06:05 PM PST
A customer says:
"Is Ringo Starr the best drummer in the world?"

Paul fights hyperbole with hyperbole. He was joking.

DVvM says:
"Is Ringo Starr the best drummer in the world?"

I'd put him behind John Bonham, Keith Moon, Neil Peart, Dave Grohl, Buddy Rich, Animal, Mike Portnoy, and Country Dick Montana.

A customer says:
So would I. I'd put him behind Karen Carpenter. He's still a beast.

Don't forget Hal Blaine

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 28, 2012, 10:36:06 PM PST
And Jason Bonham.

And Vinnie Paul.

Billy Cobham absolutely SMOKES. Def. one of the best drummers around as well. Dennis Chambers is outstanding too.
