"honestly, i was never all that into Pizzack, or however the hell you spell it."

Pizza Attack. Delicious :)

Another pro-tip is to make sure that you save your credits. You don't end up loaded with cash in this game and the late game items you can are amazing. The Dominator glove is +5 str, but you can bug your way out of getting it, so you may want to look up a spoiler on just that part.

*Very vague light spoiler*

iirc, you won't get access to any Jedi powers until you reach a certain point in the story. If you are wanting to really buff up your force powers, try to save your leveling as much as possible until you get to that point.

*End of spoiler*

Either way, the game isn't too long so it's conducive to multiple playthroughs to try different things out.

Sparhawk says:
The feats to make blasters good against lightsaber-wielders were in the sequel. Therefore, lightsaber > every blaster. And really, it's all about the deadly glowsticks.

Explore everywhere, talk to everyone. The game's not that hard unless you skip stuff, there is no real need to min-max your skills and everything.

honestly, i prefer KOTOR 2 over KOTOR 1. other than Revan, the characters in 2 were more interesting than the ones in 1. Atton was better than Carth, Mira/Hanharr than Zaalbar, Handmaiden than Juhani, and so on.

Pazaak. I though gameplay in II was better.

HK-47 is correct. Always.

Unless you Force push someone into lightning.

Also, don't play the card game. You'll waste a lot of time addicted to it

I wouldn't exactly recommend a Consular as your first play through. Consulars focus on force powers get the most force powers, the fewest feats, Guardians, the exact opposite, Sentinels, somewhere in between the two and with the most skill points. i generally start off as a Scout, then upgrade either to a Consular or a Sentinel afterwords. Soldiers/Guardians are generally recommended for your first playthrough, they are the toughest, physically.

regardless, for your jedi characters, i'd recommend leaving your strength at 10 and putting those points towards Dexterity, theres a feat, called lightsaber finesse, or something to that effect, that gives you the attack bonus of whichever of the two, STR or DEX, is highest, and DEX also gives you a defensive bonus.

DEX is also a must for any characters you plan having use blasters. and generally my preference was to have two fully modded Blaster Pistols, rather than a Blaster Rifle or a Heavy Repeater.

For Jedi/Melee combatants, max out Flurry quickly, its the best physical attack for them. ditto with Rapid Shot for Long Range characters, though if you spec them right Critical Shot can be pretty damaging as well.

pick whether you are going to go Dark Side or Light Side and stick with it. though i'd like to point out that a maxed out Consular can kick some serious *** with Force Storm.

oh, and as for party combinations, i usually had my main character, another jedi, and then a long range guy, usually HK-47 or Canderous, with me.

You can waste time with your friends when your chores are done.

To expand on what M.A. Clapp said, stick with what you want. Want to duel weld lightsabers than focus mostly on that. This goes for your companions, make sure they focus on certain skills. Note, not saying that you can only have one skill but make sure to leave room to "master" some skill than be a jack-of-all.

I found agility more useful than strength for my Jedis. Being able to bob and weave and reflect back blasters kept them alive.

But I want to be a blaster specialist!

Awesome! Enjoy!

Do not bother putting any points into any blaster or ranged skills on your main character. You will soon be using all melee weapons.

Talk to everyone. Including your party.

You can queue actions.

Have fun!

Without being too spoilerific, maybe look up at a least a character list so you don't accidentally kill a potential party member.

M. A. Clapp says:
whatever you choose (good/evil), stick with's nearly impossible to change mid game and still be powerful enough to beat it...there's a couple of potential companions you can end up killing when you meet them if you rush into combat without exploring dialogue options

also, probably too hard for first playthrough, but if you can do all of taris without spending skill points (basically at level 2), then when jedi skill trees open up, you have a ton of points to put in them instead of wasting in lesser categories

Yeah, the Force lighting is badass.

General star wars rule of thumb, dark side always has more cool force powers.

Save often because the game will crash like a drunk sorority girl.

There really aren't classes when you begin the game. You modify characters' skills as they level up. At one point you'll have to answer some questions which influences a sub-class but it's hog a big deal. Whether you should go light or evil depends what's more entertaining to you and what force powers you want.

I recommend scout for the first playthrough so you can pass skill checks and get the awesome flurry skill free. As far as being light or dark, do what feels good to you :)
